This may sound crazy but I could not care less.

I loaned someone $30 and they somehow fenagled in a deal with someone else, basically fucking them out of it, thinks he paid me ten of it.

Let me tell you something, I am not answering your calls or anything unless you have THIRTY DOLLARS to give to me. It was explained that it was bill money that it came out of. Technically I am still short. It doesn't mean shit really, but it does. I said "I want the next words out of your mouth to me to be 'here is your money'" And that means that.

This bum is done sucking off me, and so is his buddy who makes alot more but has it already spent. I do not answer the phone for either. The one WITH money wants me to install a CAT5 cable somewhere. Even if he gives me double my rate, I am not interested. If he is calling me, it is a bitch of a job. Guaranteed.

He has stopped calling so maybe I have gotten the point across, I am simply not interested. And the guy without money, gone as well. Them against the world, good luck and good riddance.

Getting rid of people this way, I am down about three grand, but it is worth it. This is not all from one person, I have been a softie. I need to get hard, one of these days.

Actually I do every morning, but not in the mind, I don't keep it there. I mean I have to get hard on people. Or maybe I have.

But i am tired of being everyoby's lawyer, doctor, financial advisor and most importantly - bank.

So now I have a plan. All for one of course and one for all. But one for one must come first.

But I want my thirty dollars, in cash, all at once, perhaps I will get it while it can still buy a loaf of bread with it.

Fuck all of them. I got a job offer in Reno, maybe I should take it.

So you paid $3000 to learn your lesson. Let's hope you don't take that class again.

This is why I don't loan people money. If you just assume you are giving it to them, it's much less hassle.

It was over the years.

I never claimed to be stupid in the past, but little by little some people know how to get by someone. Another technique I will study.I don't need to understand it, just to master it.

I will die one day, but I will not go down.

Term - Repeat after me... NO! Do I look like an ATM Machine?

This is exactly why I carry around business cards from the local pawn shop...  They are in the loan business I am not. I believe it was Franklin who said "Neither a borrower nor a lender be"...

I don't loan money to anyone... My cousin Karen called me with a tale of woe about her deadbeat husband and needing to borrow $500 etc and I suggested Wells Fargo Bank knowing full well her credit was shit. I dont care! Now thats not to say Im cheap... During the Holidays I gave Britt $300 for Christmas shopping so I essentially bought my own present but it wasnt a loan... Ill pick up checks in a bar or resteraunt etc, but I dont play the "small loans game"

I do not loan money.  But I will cover friends when we are out or just give them small amounts on occasion for necessities.

some where on here is a posting that reads something like

If you loan someone $50 bucks and never hear from them again ... it was probably worth it!

i'll loand amounts up to about $20 or $50 bucks to those that are known to me if they are caught short and not another cent until it's paid back.  So far since doing this my losses have almost been nil ... the exception is my kids ... and as they are both now in their 20s i've started to do the same with them!  Unless it's health related and i'll pay the bill.

I've discovered that loaning money to friends or family puts that relationship to test.  If I hand money to you, it's a gift not a loan.  Then there are no expectations to be paid back and no hard feelings.  We help in other ways...helped pay a niece's college tuition.  We'll be having a cousin's son move in in September since he couldn't get dorm housing.  Won't be charging them any rent...they'll save about $20,000 in room and board for the next two years.  He'll be put to work cutting and stacking wood and occasional babysitting.  I think that's a fair trade.
Bottom line...loaning money to friends and family is bad.  Helping people out in other ways is good.

My standard answer when people ask me if I'll loan them money, "Do I Look like 'The Bank of Rhi' to you?"

Granted, I used to believe the thing of - if they disappear after borrowing $50, it's worth it.  Then I figured out, they won't Disappear until it's closer to $500, and prior to the disappearance, they're gonna act and talk like it comes as a shock to them that you expected a Loan to be Repaid.  I had a "friend" for a while that this was a Big problem with a couple of years ago.

She didn't have a bank account to have her tax refund direct deposited into, so I agreed to let it be deposited into My account.  Since we knew exactly what the amount was, I "loaned" her money based on what she had coming as a tax refund - essentially giving her an advance on it - and kept careful records to indicate exactly how much of it she'd gone through prior to it ever actually being deposited.  I had no issue with that - after all, I was the only one with access to the bank account, so it wasn't like she could skip and not repay the amount - I simply refused to withdraw the advanced amount once it Was deposited.  She, of course, threw a hissy fit with me and attempted to accuse me of Stealing from her, when I pointed out that the much Smaller amount I handed her after it was deposited was simply what was Left that she hadn't already been given.  Apparantly, she expected me to "advance" her what she "needed" prior to the tax refund being deposted, then expected me to give her the entire deposit as well!  (After all, the deposit Was the refund, and that was "her's" - never mind that she'd already gotten damn near all of the amount.) It didn't simply Strain the friendship - it effectively ended me choosing her as someone I wanted to spend any appreciable amounts of time with.

Now I see, when the thread is moved this happens.

You know, now that I think about it, this post does belong in the Stupidity section.

Just realize this, I may have been stupid, but that three grand happened over the period of many years and many people.

And no, you may not borrow a mortgage payment. I might loan you a downpayment for something, something worthwhile, but a monthly payment ? Takes no brains to know that is not coming back. And I'll get my money back next month right ? WRONG, you won't have it because you have to make the payment again.

You want my money, come clean my house. And even then there are some who are acceptable and others who are not. Get a ticket to Cleveland and I'll give you a tryout, afterward we will determine if you warrant any pay.

Talk about getting hard ? I am getting like Predator on viagra.

The Mods moving this to stupidity, it caused me a minor inconvenience, but I agree. This is stupidity. I will stop.
