Come on now. It appears that I can no longer say Black, Dark, Brown, Fudge, nor Chocolate without being labeled a racist. Anyone care to explain as to how the scientific vocabulary of "Black Hole" refers to being racist?

My Fiance is black and doesn't have a problem with it. Using her words, it is only when you allow yourself to be harmed by things other people are saying that you give into it.
In all reality I wish this were different however as humans we try to do everything to separate and catagorize each other from everyone else. It is hard coded into who we are.

lol, I am a black woman and have no objections to anyone of any race calling me such...or any other term used to describe an African American person....
but using the word "black" and being called  a Racists is crazy ha ha ha

Even if someone gets bold enough to use the "N" word around me...
It's just a word....only means something if one lets it.

Oh yeah a Filipino blogger who fills in for Bill O'Reilly occasionally is the best source for information on what term black people want to be referred to as.

Because there was some census of all black people to determine what we all want to be called.

Doesn't bother ANY of my family or friends to call anybody black. If one will notice...nobody is actually black. As a result I call them olive-skinned beauties or yes...brown sugar.

For those of you that can't get past the Michelle Malkin part, here's a link to the original story:
http://cityhallblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/07/dallas-county-meeting-turns-ra.html

And the relevant quote (bold emphasis added):
Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections "has become a black hole" because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.
Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud "Excuse me!" He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a "white hole." That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.
Mayfield shot back that it was a figure of speech and a science term. A black hole, according to Webster's, is perhaps "the invisible remains of a collapsed star, with an intense gravitational field from which neither light nor matter can escape."

I think it's sad that a Judge can't differentiate between a racial comment and a commonly used analogy relating an astronomical black hole to a bureaucracy that loses paperwork in this specific case.  But, that's the nation we've become.

There are only two types of people, tolerant and intolerant of the diversity of the human species.
Obviously as long as no one is put in harm's way does it matter what the difference is?
the My .. place of birth, place/method of education, religious/other value standard, sexual orientation, or whatever is better than yours or is the only one to have/follow ... attitude is what causes all the hassles.

i had a colleague from an 'ethnic' background who wasn't doing their job and after several re-training sessions on how things for safety and productivty reason were to be done ... he was fired. We were accused of racism/bigotry, there are a few out there who hide behind their diversity and their crying wolf makes to so hard for the genuine cases.

... stepping off soap box ...

Bah, my skin is full blown white, but my great-great-great-grammy was a lovely black woman.

So, I think pulling the race card is shit. You don't know who is on someone's family tree.

Maybe better science education would help, not that you'll find that easy to find in TX.

hmm, i am not touching this one.  But why am i called white when i am not white, but a peach color, ok, well, right now, i am a lovely red lobster color? Just asking, ya know.

Personally, i don't give a crap what you are, who you are, what type of work you do, who you sleep with (as long as its not my Dom), or what color you are as long as you are a good person who takes care of things and is honest.

Sorry, i have been stuck in this freaking house far too long, i need a car NOW damnit!

I am black. puppen I agree with you about the race card. I get so tired of  black people using the race card when they think they have mistreated because of their race.

When people call me African American, I tell them I am not. In my opinion an African American is someone who is/was born in African and now they live in America or someone that is born of African parents that reside in the States.

*just my five cents.
