When i first started to read this thread, i honestly did not think it would make the different twists and turns that it did, how interesting. Truely everyone has a good point and it all applies on one level or another. There was a good long period of my time in the lifestyle in which i believed that the reason i found so many overweight submissive females (this includes myself)  is that i somehow was unable to be self accountable. In reality this was not the case, honestly i had just lived my life in such a way that i never had to be, until circumstances forced me to.
Weightloss is actually a very complicated and complex pathway, it usually isn't easy and when the weight starts to slowly creep away, the layers of that person begin to become exposed.  Therefor, along those lines as You who created this thread were going, what might work is a support group for any submissive who saw themselves as over wieght. In which they were encouraged and could feel not so alone. Were things like seeing a nutritionist and possibly a therapist was openly discussed. As for who should run it, i would think a better way is to have a Dom and/or Domme oversee it and set up some type of structure forit. Otherwise be more like chaperon.

However, having just joined Weight Watchers, I can say that it's pretty damn nice for a submissive/slave. You get hard and fast rules (you must have so many servings of healthy oil, dairy, etc a day), you are held accountable with weekly weigh-ins, you get plenty of support from your group and the group leader and get praised for meeting your goals.

Plus they give me stickers... [:)]

I lost about 28 pounds with Weight Watchers before finding out I was pregnant last month.  I did the online, thing, though.  The best part of it IS the structure for me.  I did the flex plan because I just can't handle a list of foods you'll never eat again.  I felt really good, and as soon as the parasite makes its appearance, I'll be back with Weight Watchers.  The plan is really workable.  Good luck!

As for a subs-only WW chapter, I don't think that's a great idea.  I am a whole person, not just a sub that needs to stay with other subs and be protected from the evil vanilla people.

The idea that seemed best was that of a respected program like Weight Watchers, but where it would have just been a subs only one so they need not worry about their lifestyle being something they need to hide, feel ashamed of, and would be able to discuss issues surrounding their weight and how it affects them in their lifestyle.  I expect at a regular Weight Watchers weigh in, if (for example) copious amounts of bruises turned up on one of the gals it'd be quite the ordeal...  but in a subs only one it's quite easy to see that being a dramtically different reaction.

When I weigh in the only clothing I am supposed to remove are my shoes. The person weighing in could wear whatever they wore to the supermarket to hide their bruises.

There are many other potential issues with this lifestyle where I can easily think of conflicts from a Ds relationship where one might have want to discuss it in a peer group of subs (what if your Dom insists you eat something not on the diet for example?) where the advice from a group of soccer moms may not be nearly as relevant.

1. In that situation the flex plan would be best - you can eat whatever you like, but you only have so many points a day. You also have 35 points to use whenever during the week.
2. Why on earth would a dominant who wanted their submissive to lose weight insist that they violate this? That's a problem between them as a couple, not something others could solve.

Val and I are planning a weekend-long scene and one of my duties is to plan my meals according to my points and what he wants to feed me. I will put them in containers in the fridge, label the containers with the points values and will probably print out a little sheet telling him how much water I need and how many points I am supposed to eat a day.

Who knows, maybe it would be...  Anyway!  We were just trying to think of an idea of how to get them the resources they would need to NOT have to depend on a Dom to get their weight undercontrol (something which was THEIR idea, not OURS) as a possible solution.

But they would be depending on doms - just not theirs. Otherwise, why try to make a new system?

quote:

We were just trying to think of a way that the subs which are currently seeking Doms to help them could find another (more successful) path for their goals of loosing weight and becoming healthier...  something we are in favor of as we very much like seeing our friends happy and healthy.

Seriously... just suggest they go to Weight Watchers or to a doctor to talk about their bodies' needs. These are your friends lives and not yours. If they object to Weight Watchers or other groups, I'd be interested in seeing their reasons posted for discussion by them.

Unless you have medical or nutrition training or had support that had such knowledge, I would not recommend it.

This is a big thing. People tend to think that being overweight is caused only by over eating, and that's not necessarily the case. There's a myriad of health issues that can cause weight gain, and the wrong diet can make them worse. So, unless you're a professional, I'd leave it alone.

I agree with this. It didn't work for me. I think Weight Watchers is good only if you need to lose a certain amount of weight, beyond that I feel you need proper medical supervision and a change of lifestyle rather than a change of diet.

I don't think a submissives only Weight Watchers is a good idea. I'm a person, and while I'm open to mutual support of other people I don't see any connection between my need to lose weight and my being submissive. I don't need to be submissive when I go to see my doctor. I feel that these submissives are seeking support from others not because they're dominant, but because they're people. I'm of the firm belief that while your issues are part of who you are there really shouldn't be a connection between them and your involvement in BDSM or D/s.

I would agree with OsideGirl above that many people think that being overweight is caused by overeating. Sure overeating and also a lack of exercise might be a direct reason why these people are overweight, but there are many different causes, ranging of side effects of medication through to depression, pregnancy in women, or simply because of genetics. Sometimes it seems to me that if you're not photoimage perfect these days you pay some sort of price, and overweight people often pay a heavy price through the attitudes of others which can be counterproductive and demotivating. Motivation is a key factor to losing weight together with self-discipline and effort, together with access to the right medical advice, a healthy lifestyle and diet and acceptance that your body can and will change.

Aww you too! [:)] I don't think I could do it just online. I love going to the meetings and getting recipes and food ideas.

SaraZeal -> RE: Subs only Weight Watchers? (7/18/2008 2:57:40 AM)

Is it possible to have a Weight Watchers to GAIN weight? I have an hyperactive metabolism and a bad diet. Full of carbs and fats and what not, but I might not reach a high caloric count overall. I'm 5'6" and 100 lbs, and would like to reach 110-115 lbs if possible

My little girl alter would prefer to shrink and be in the healthy range for a lower height. I'm not willing to get spine disks removed though. (A co-consciousness alter, I don't qualify for a DID diagnosis for that reason).

If you go and see a dietician they would be able to give you advice on how to safely gain weight.

Thanks. I live in the boondocks, and the nearest meeting is a 1/2 hour away.  My truck gets 13 mpg on a really good day with the engine off coasting downhill  [:-], so online was the only workable solution for me.  I do have family members who are either losing with WW or are on maintenance with WW, so I get a lot of support from them.  As for recipes, the database online has quite a few, and my Sir is always coming home with new WW cookbooks for me.  [:)]
