Where'd you go jlf,
The best part of your post (imho) is not the weight loss - although that is fantabulous... It is your pride in your accomplishments... Your celebrating of it.  Thank you for sharing it, modeling how to care for yourself, and for sticking to it.

*hugsssssssssssss

Look, I know there are others trying to get into shape out there, so I decided to start a pat myself on the back thread.

This is such a pleasant change, a 'pat myself on the back thread!

but does it have to be just weight loss?  i've been trying to shuffle the chairs on the titanic and insert some organisation in my life ... i read one of those time management hint things ... i never finish any course or time commitment that exceeds 6 months ... well it's been a year!  okay it's a three year course, but this is the longest i've every stuck at such a thing, and the flow on (time management) has been amazingly beneficial.

So i'm patting myself on the back![sm=champ.gif]

JulieorSarah, I'd love to hear more about what you're doing, I think it's great that you've stuck it out this long. I'm like you, never sticking to something for very long. *sighs* Feel free to cmail me on the other side if you like! [:D]

Celebratory meal consists of baked talipa, salad, steamed veggies, and green tea with honey.

I'm not sure about the green tea....but the tilapia dinner sounds soooooo good.
Congratulations on your accomplishment![sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif]

I cant remember what a super surpreme pizza tastes like.....[:@]

It tastes like crap!  Cardboard crap!  Believe me, you ain't missing a thing..  The tilapia tastes sooo much better than the pizza!

you can make your own pizza burito (sounds silly...i know)

Burito shells, low fat cheese, pizza sauce, and then get creative with whatever you might want to add...chicken, veggies, turkey sausage/bacon...etc.

jlf1961 -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 7:54:45 AM)

No, not just weight loss.  This thread is for anyone who is working on a positive change in their life or lifestyle.

Weight loss, going back to school, learning another language for the hell of it, learning a new skill becuase you want to, stopping smoking, cleaning out the attic, even cleaning out the accumulated clutter of a lifetime.

Congrates on the attempt to organize your life.  THAT is something to be proud of.

I mean I admit I let myself go to crap after some medical stuff left me in no condition to exercise.  I came across and old picture and then looked at myself in the mirror.

PanthersMom -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 9:07:43 AM)

whatever the motivation, congrats and keep up the good work!  i went back to school after the divorce and it's given me an incredible boost in self esteem and so on.   i can understand how great you feel.  you have done something to be proud of!  best of luck losing the rest, that can be the hardest, but i think you'll have little trouble with that!

Hey Panthersmom,

Look, I will be honest, there is a Ren Faire I wish to attend and I cant fit into my chainmail armour!

That and it is hard to go wenching when you look more like friar tuck than St George the Dragon Slayer.[sm=biggrin.gif]

PanthersMom -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 10:01:26 AM)

mmmmmmmmmmm, chainmail!  lord knows i've dated a few friar tuck types in my time, they had better personalities and were alot more fun.  never did care much for the "pretty boy" types.  and not all the wenches worth wenching are the "fair maiden" types either.  [sm=couple.gif]

Congradulations! I'm so happy for you!!!!

Now come to Missouri and teach my Dad this self control and healthy diet! I've tried everything. [:(]

PanthersMom -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 10:14:26 AM)

you could try chaining him up in the basement and feeding him nothing but lettuce for a month, after that a diet of fruits, veggies and fish or chicken would seem like heaven!  i think i've just invented the CM diet plan!

jlf1961 -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 10:27:03 AM)

Find a pic of your dad when he was in shape then ask him who it is.  When he says it is him, look him straight in the eye and say, "BULLSHIT"  followed by "Prove it, if you can look that then you can look like that now."

lilsubl -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 11:15:47 AM)

hmmmmm....i have a pic of myself when i was in shape on my refrigerator...perhaps i should blow it up to mural size & post it on the wall above the computer!!

Nikolette -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 12:00:19 PM)

jlf1961: Good idea. I'll actually try that out.

Nikolette -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 12:22:38 PM)

panthersMom: Good in theory! It reminds me of an old Jewish story that my slave told me- this is it from my vague memory:

An old farmer lived in his house with his wife and children and their children. He was annoyed at how noisey and loud they were, and frustrated with how crowded it was. He went to the Lord and asked him for help. He said: My life is so crazy, and terrible, can't you do something to make this better? More peaceful and calm.

God replies--- I have a solution for you! First of all, move your children into the same room as you.

The man does so and he's not less annoyed its even more frustrating, he doesn't even have privacy now! So he goes back to God and says: God, this isn't better? What are you thinking?

God replies--- Oh. Well move the sheep into the house then.

The man does so- but now he's not getting even a peep of sleep, those sheep are so obnoxious what with the Baahing and crap. So he goes back to God and whines: God, this is worse than ever, surely you can make my life peaceful!

God anwers--- Certainly, move the chickens into the kitchen too. That will help!

The man is wary of it, but complies and after only a day he can't stand the din going on and he's thinking of moving to the barn! And he returns to God and begs: God! Please! This isn't helping at all! I need to rest!

So God replies: Invite your neighbors to stay over, and the other animals. That should do the trick.

The man thinks this is aburd, but he will do anything at this point, so home he goes. He invites his neighbors, and he herds all the animals from the barnyard in. There is barely room to move and his head is about to explode! This is ridiculous! He returns to God, head hung and unable to keep his eyes open even, so tired is he. He asks God: This is worse than ever, what can I do?

God says to him--- Send your neighbors home, and return the animals to their place. Put the children back into their own room. This will solve everything.

The man goes home, he sends his neighbors away and has his children take the animals back into the yard and barn and then tells them to sleep in their rooms again. .... He stretches out on his bed and sighs in relief at how peaceful and calm his home is. Finally he's contented and at peace.

......

So in summery.... I'd totally do that if it wasn't illegal!

Maya2001 -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 12:28:49 PM)

Comgratulations that is quite the achievement and you have every right to be proud of it

jlf1961 -> RE: I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (7/16/2008 7:58:34 PM)

Nikolette, I have five dogs living in this house, ranging from 20 pounds to 65 pounds.  So in essence, your story wouldnt work here....
