I have heard a few other people with this complaint. All I can say is - you can lose weight without WW, and you can go to WW meetings, and they will never know if you are following their plan or not, the only thing they have to go by is your weigh-in. However, I mean no offense, but this would not have happened to your sister if she was following the WW program. WW puts a high value on fiber, (which is very healthy for the digestive system), requires 8 - 8oz glasses of water a day (which is very healthy for the digestive system), and, most importantly to understand for this story - REQUIRES 2 Tablespoons of Heart Healthy oil a day.(Olive oil, sunflower or safflower oil, nut oil - I like to use Sesame oil for mine, it's a condiment, so i feel like I'm getting a lot of bang for my oil buck). Leaders remind members constantly of the dangers of not getting in your oil - unhealthy bowels, skin conditions, lack luster hair are mentioned a lot. WW members are also supposed to take a multi-vitamin every day and get 2 servings of dairy and 5 servings of free veggies every day. I have never met a nutritionist who was not in love with WW. Although WW does manufacture and sell food under their own brand, the food is in no way nec. for the program and is never mentioned in materials on how to construct your daily diet under the program. It gets mentioned in meeting by members who are talking about what food are really helping them - but a lot less than other foods of other brands get mentioned in the same way, with encouragement from leaders to do so - or the leaders themselves, talking about other brands. Nothing is 'necessary' on the WW program except the weekly membership fee (around $10) and your own food from the grocery. You can eat out at any resteraunt - you can eat any food you want. This is why WW is so healthy, it teaches you that all food can be eaten, it is all a matter of balance and choices. BTW, I am right now at my lowest adult weight, and on my way down. Master has a lovely little reward list which I would never post here, because most of what is on it would scare the snot out of any sane person, which I never claimed to be one of anyway. Sufice it to say, I get the snot beaten out of me every 20 pounds. Woo-hoo.
