To carry the last thought even further, a fantasy can be something that not only have you not done yet but may never do. I have fantasies about not being overweight ever again, but I don't know if that will ever come true. : ) Tasks can be either assigned by the top or suggested or automatically taken on by the bottom. One of my tasks, for instance, is not to color my hair myself but to have it done professionally. I have added the task of having my eyebrows waxed at the same time. A desire, as opposed to fantasy, is a feeling of what we truly want. It may also never come true, but it is something that we carry with us. I "desire" to be appreciated by the One I have chosen. If I did not receive that feeling then I would need to find a relationship that fulfilled that desire. I "desire" a kiss at the beginning and end of the session. For me, being submissive is not roleplay - it is simply who I am. Roleplay tends to include pretending, acting out a role. For others it is simply taking on the top or bottom role during a session. Those people tend to have sharper lines between their vanilla and BDSM life. A lot of these definitions, within the lifestyle, have no black and white meaning but are flexible for each relationship. That may be harder for a new person to understand, but gives a lot of room for individuality for each dynamic. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way.
