I am starting to build my toy collection and want to know what toys a beginner male submissive, like myself should have?

HeavansKeeper -> RE: Toys (7/18/2008 7:29:21 PM)

Rope you like the feel of.
Cuffs you are comfortable with.
If it's not a hard limit for you, a strap-on you're not terrified of.
A crop you like the hit of (i.e. the leather strikes, not the cane-like part)
A cock ring that fits you.
Lube you like, I suggest water solubles.

azropedntied -> RE: Toys (7/18/2008 7:51:49 PM)

i would say any "toy" you do not wish to have been used on/with  others put into your bag for exclusive use on you . I have many use on me only items .. then again when i am on holiday and go out snorkle'n i use my own too same would be said  for the comunal ball gag . guess its all up to what you can and will share .

DominantJenny -> RE: Toys (7/19/2008 10:31:45 AM)

I'd add a flogger or two and a paddle and/or hairbrush to the list. I'm a big believer in toys going with the submissive; makes the whole "clean and safe" thing. Don't stock yourself too much, because many, if not most, will have their own preferences on toys, but a good basic collection is an excellent idea, imo.

SunNMoon -> RE: Toys (7/19/2008 11:59:27 AM)

Things you like. Do you really have a thing for paddles get a paddle if you love bondage get bondage gear. I also look for toys that can be washed or are easy to clean. And look for toys that are free of toxic chemicals (ie jelly).

bipolarber -> RE: Toys (7/19/2008 12:01:51 PM)

If you enjoy penetration, then definitely any strap ons or ball gags you'd use on a regular basis should be bought by you, for use on you alone. (Sure, you can sterilize latex, plastic and silicone... but why take the chance?) Same for any impact toys like whips or paddles that could have come in contact with blood or other high risk fluids.

After that, it's just a matter of finding things that you enjoy.

strapons ..dildos ..vibraters ..butt plugs ...lots of lube [:)] medical gloves for those into being fisted [:)] hows that for starters ? [:)] a nice cane or whip so your mistress can put you back in your place if she has too [:)] a nice 2qt enema bag to  get clean for her before she cums over ...knowing im clean inside as well as outside for my lady makes anal much more enjoyable i must say ..good luck and have fun [:)]

DreamyLadySnow -> RE: Toys (7/19/2008 1:58:25 PM)

Blindfold, a couple of gags, rope, wrist/ankle cuffs, cbt toys such as cock rings and parachute, clothespins. If you plan to play at your place certainly have a good first aid kit. Make one yourself, that way you have full size versions of everything and you know what's in it.
Safety scissors (for scissor purposes, see HeavensKeeper's rope advice, lol).
Like the others said, anything you want used on you, alone, then you alone should purchase.
Floggers are generally at a low risk of contamination, but knives and insertables are much higher.

Maybe get some nice massage oil so you can massage a Domme's muscles after she works out on your ass..heh heh.

I'm going to echo some of the above.  The general rule of safety first in those things that you wouldn't want shared by another bottom come to mind.  Absolutely any toy used for insertion or that will come in contact with other bodily fluids would be at the top of My suggestion list.  That includes plugs, ball gags, and things of the like.  Also, anything that you would foresee cutting the skin, so add sharps that interest you to the list.  The obvious ones of your own blindfold and restraints.  Personalize your bag, too, with a couple of things that you like the sensation of.  Last, but not least, add in the bag something specific to your aftercare needs.  Whether that be a blanket that you want to be wrapped up in after playing, or a particular type of non perishable treat that you enjoy.  That last one will also remind you that your aftercare needs are important during negotiating a potential scene, just as much as the type of play.

Have fun putting together your toybag!

Thank you for asking this boundinside,
I'm not a male, but I never thought about doing this..hence practical knowledge isn't 'always' helpful.

Now, it is those things like canes and floggers, if one hasn't really used them before, how would one know how to choose?

All in time, start with the rest first [:)]

Thanks again
jade

P.S. edited to add, thank you to the Dommee's and others for added advise.

boundinside -> RE: Toys (7/19/2008 5:03:52 PM)

Well thank you jade and thank you to everyone who contributed to the thread.  I ended up purchasing, just for now; handcuffs, a leather blindfold (really dark when on), a ball gag (that is a little to big), a collar/leash with "submissive" written on it, rope, and a small anal plug (just to familiarize myself with the sensation).

ThundersCry -> RE: Toys (7/19/2008 5:12:04 PM)

Every toy bag needs a cane...

or two...

AcademyForSlaves -> RE: Toys (7/19/2008 8:38:18 PM)

Hi.

Slave Collar
Slave Tag
Rope
Whip
Leather Paddle
Wood Paddle
Cuffs
Chain and Locks
Chastity Device
Dildo
Slave Loin Cloth
Apron (so you can cook and clean for your Mistress)
Worn Items from your Mistress to worship
Pics of your Mistress to worship
Videos or dvds from your Mistress (so you can obey her commands when she's not there)

and anything else she wants.

Hope this helps.

Buy what you like. But, remember, just because you have them is no guarentee that a woman will want to use them.

I second Master Fire's recommendation.  Buy the types of toys you like to have used on you.  Try to get a lot of different types, so as to offer your tops a wide selection.  Do not expect to have all of them used in every scene.

If your budget is limited, look into pervertables, i.e. items that weren't made for BDSM but can be used for it.  With enough imagination you'll find grocery stores and hardware stores full of them.  (We don't call it Dom Depot for nothing.)

HeavansKeeper -> RE: Toys (7/20/2008 3:01:59 AM)

Avoid the allure and shimmer of duct tape.

Duct tape is like the Force.  It has a light side, a dark side and it holds the universe together.  For bondage, however, I've found it has its drawbacks.

Drawbacks?  Really? [8D]

Okay, if you do include duct tape include the plastic wrap to put underneath it...and some goo gone, maybe, for those sticky spots...

DominantJenny -> RE: Toys (7/20/2008 9:26:18 AM)

Oh, cheap and a must-have, imo, are clothespins!

DreamyLadySnow -> RE: Toys (7/20/2008 11:46:07 AM)
