My question is...isn't a Domme supposed to guide her submissive to be honorable....isn't she supposed to encourage him to do the right thing and take care of his responsibilites?

I would think so....and it is what i would want in a D/s relationship.
I don't think i could respect another who would encourage me to behave in a dishonarble fashion.

Peace,
cathy

I think that is an admirable position, but she isn't responsible for totally reworking his personality. If he is such a deadbeat, she will soon learn so... regardless of what he has been telling her.

She will have to decide if she wants to undertake a rehabilitation project. I am guessing most women do not pick a sub as a Pygmalion experiment. So I expect that she will release this fellow.

But at any rate, I wouldn't count on a BDSM conversion suddenly making the guy responsible. I am sorry that you lost so much.
