ORIGINAL: seriousareyou Its leather and approx 6 feet in length with a split tail on the business end. If it looks like a singletail but has a split tail at the end, I wonder if it's a quirt. It seems a bit long for a quirt though. It is a quirt if the tail is made of thick leather. It will not crack and will be easier to use than a buillwhip. In that event, what is most important is to have a sense for its intensity, and for where on the body to aim. If it is indeed a bullwhip, I will let others comment. Regardless of what type of implement it is, to get a sense for intensity, one can use the implement on self, or start slow with a submissive and use a 1-10 rating system to find out how hard it can be used. Generally places with muscle mass are the areas to hit: buttocks, upperback, legs, arms, chest. For a singletail, the larger muscle areas are better because they leave more room to slip with the aim without harmful consequences. A wrap shot (a shot where the whip lands near the edge of the torso or body part and wraps around to hit it along the side or the surface facing away from you) is considered bad technique and dangerous unless it is done intentionally in a controlled manner.
