From Barack Obama's website:
"But the absence of genuine political accommodation in Iraq is a direct result of President Bush’s failure to hold the Iraqi government accountable."

From the NY Times:
"Sunni participation in the Iraqi government has been an important goal for the United States, and the return of the Sunni bloc will be seen as progress in an otherwise bumpy political reconciliation process."

Obama will not admit that he remains wrong about how things are unfolding in Iraq.

Pathetic amateur.

Pathetic amateur.

You know I was going to cut you some slack after making you look foolish earlier but here you are starting yet another thread.

So why should we vote for McCain? His knowledge of foreign affairs? Except for that whole al-Qaeda working with the Iranians claim he tried to peddle. Maybe his vast knowledge of domestic issue? Of course McCain had this to say about the economy, "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should." So McCain doesn't know sunni extremists don't like shi'ite extremists and doesn't understand economics as well as he should so where is the positive thing about the guy that makes him desirable as POTUS?

Perhaps all these negative threads attacking Obama are because you know there isn't anything positive to say about McCain so your only hope is smear tactics.

what he said. if obama has any knowledge about sunni and shi'a splits, he's an improvement over the current president and the other major candidate.

For an opener, Ken, we KNOW he has a spine.  He is a known quantity in many ways.  We cannot say the same for Barry.

I expect considerably more shifting from Obama, as we move towards November.  Maybe he'll even give another speech.  Then, if nominated and elected, quite a bit more difference between what he says, and what course he would actually take.

For an opener, Ken, we KNOW he has a spine.

Does he? What's his position on torture? Do you really believe his explanation of his flip flop? What about his opinion on Jerry Falwell? Is he one of the "agents of intolerance" or is he someone worthy of seeking an endorsement from? What about taxes? Is he for or against the Bush tax cuts?

And most importantly of all how can he even be in the same room as GWB and Rove after the 2000 race?

I'll say this, he clearly was a tough and honorable sailor during his service and his imprisonment. What happened to that man of principles and honor puzzles me to no end but the evidence speak for itself.

On your earlier thread you complained about Obama changing his mind on his web site, now you complain he wont change his mind.

Hardly consistent thinking on your part, is it ?

When you title "Obama is still wrong on Iraq" it makes me wonder who was ever right on Iraq to begin with. Everything that the USA has or has not done with Iraq has always been a damned of we do and damned if we don't situation.

It seems that the neo-cons are living in an alternate reality.

Here,in the real world,we`re getting out of Iraq,ASAP.

Here,in the real world, the Iraqi Prime Minister wants us out.The Iraqi gov. wants us out.All of the ME nations(accept Israel) wants us to leave.

Here,in the real world, most Americans want to get out.

Here,in the real world, the military wants to get out too.

It the real world, everyone knows that the neo-cons fucked up real bad and are not only "wrong on Iraq",but are criminally negligent and down right psychopathic.

Why don`t you just debate the merits, instead of this phony story about Mr. Obama "changing his position" or (OMG) editing his web page.

Though in reality,I`d prefer that you stay with McCain`s winning strategy of pretense and whining about non-issues.

Obama's speech prior to the Iraqi invasion, speaking out against it, was absolutely beautiful.  Meanwhile, Hillary voted for the invasion and never read the intelligence that the Bush administration disseminated.  Amazing.

Bush has been amazingly consistently wrong about Iraq.  While his supporters claim that the surge is working, it is a fact that it has NOT produced the intended purpose of giving the Iraq government breathing room to get its act together.  He endorsed the surge only after an Iraq study group promoted drawing down troops - guess he doesn't like being told what to do.

The surge can onlt be considered a success compared to the pre-surge state of Iraq.  Taken as a whole, the entire Iraq war was a colossal blunder.  Right now, nobody can predict the ultimate outcome but the neocon fantasy of a blissful utopia from which democracy flows like a river to the entire parched Middle East, is laughable.

In the event that the final outcome is actually better than having the country run by a contained Saddam Hussein, then the question will be if the improvement justified the sacrifices made.

Bush = Wrong war, wrong enemy, wrong country and you are calling Obama wrong and an amateur?

The fact that the richest and most powerful country in the world is making a modicum of progress five years into a stupid imperial jolly does not mean Bush was right, it just means it takes a lot of lives, time and money to right his mistakes!

ron paul has never taken a junket.

as far as the "surge"  get over it. it is no big thing.  why?  we were attacked for our freedom and way of life.  we THAT is eroded and more to come.  you would dare pull a prank that would have been ok 10-20 years ago.

meanwhile we are about to bail out GM- the governemtn AND GM sueing 17 states over air emissions.

the governement machine is not interested in humans or their peacefull enjoyment.

so the victory is hollow.   very hollow

So is it the Sunni that are the problem, or is it the Shia? Listening to John McCain has me confused... Seems he can't keep the factions straight in his head either...

But then, I'm not too worried about ME not knowing all the facts... but shouldn't a candidate for POTUS have at least a semi-clear idea of who our friends/enemies are in this conflict?

Somehow, I have greater faith in Obama, who has a 300+ team for international policy to draw on, than I do with John McCain... who seems to be relying on the same flock of retards who got us into this mess.*

*I apologize to retarded people in advance, for comparing them to the GOP
