We're going to Schlitterbahn (major water park -- have to do Galveston Island, though -- South Padre's going to be dealing with Dolly) tomorrow (Me, my daughter and her fiance). My companion is in Guatemala, on an anthropological expedition. On Labor Day, I'll be hei-ing my ass to Rock the Bayou to watch 40 ancient rockers play old music for 4 days.... a beer in one hand, doing Hand of Rock with the other, listening to Queensryche, Brett Michaels, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Alice Cooper, and many, many more. So what is everybody up to this summer?  Who is going to outdoor music festivals, camping, hiking, boating maybe the Olympics?    [sm=wontshare.gif][sm=yahoo.gif][sm=help.gif][sm=dance.gif][sm=cheerleader.gif]

Been in sunny Southern Cal three times in the last month. Home a few days.....gone again.

Once to visit family and the other two times attending Jay Cutler / Victor Martinez /Muscle Tech seminars.

Haven't traveled this much since before 9/11. Feels good to pull-up to the curb forty minutes beforehand and jump on a plane again.

I'll be back down in Vegas in September for Mr. Olympia.

Anyways.....the weather is kickn' down there. Wish I could stay for more than four days at a time ; }

What a change for you!  How is your body adjusting?  Do you ever wake up not knowing what time it is at all?

the biggest challenge to moving to Northern Canada was that I have not actually seen "night time" in the last couple of months.  By the time it actually gets a little dark, it is well past midnight and the sun has been up for hours when I get up at 6 AM.  I was awake one early morning at 3:30 and it was not dark; it was more like twilight with the glow from the sun lighting up the horizon.

I love the summer because of all the activities and friendliness it brings.  I always do lots of family friendly music festivals which come with a lot of camping usually in the mountains, short road trips, beach and hiking...simply because its inexpensive fun

and visit the Bram Stoker museum. There's more, but that's the stuff I'm looking forward to the most.

Not the one in Whitby? ... pleas don't tell me you will be in The Ridings and not coming round for tea?

This has been one of the busiest summer's I've had in a long time, everything from  day trips to Jasper, I didn't know it was possible for an UM to  talk that much wow!![:D] to sitting on the front porch, enjoying the summer weather and visiting with family and friends. We  just came back from the lake for one of the boy's b-day's and I went on a jet-ski for the first time ever. :) I highly recommend it!!  I spent the first  fifteen minutes laughing  I had so much fun on it. There are a few more adventures tentativly planned, hopefully another trip to the lake. We went to an amazing event called Primal Pain, it wasn't  so much a BDSM  gathering/event as a spiritual one I faced some of my biggest fears, I walked on fire! As well as glass(not a blister  or scratch)  and did an energy pull. Basicly, all the things I  would sit on the sidelines and watch other's do, but not this year :)   And yes the hooks freaking hurt[:-] But  the experience was very worth it.

The reno's for the house I share with my ex-husband is in the process of getting a new roof so that has been an adventure all in itself, lol I had a sky light in my bedroom :) Not to mention a waterfall when it rained!

This is my *Fuck around until you have to go back to school* summer, since I couldn't start the next bit of the nursing program until this fall. It's going quite well, lots of wakeboarding (sorta), messing around in other states, and hopefully tomorrow, visiting my parents and cooking for them- if I can find the funny little pastry cups.

I'm *still* looking for a marina who will rent us some Jetskis reasonably. It's 80$ an hour around here- eep

Slaveboy, I have been down to the your area fishing, it is great.  Fir me up here in Illinois, if i want to find good fishing I have to travel quite some ways.

I either go up to Ely Mn to go canoeing, camping and fishing.

This summer I have the joy of cutting up fallen timber on some land I own getting it ready so we can camp and hunt on it.

Ok so lets see

Loafing this week
Home to loaf by the seaside at my parents expense next week
Back up north to loaf with friends the week after
Up really north to Scotland to loaf/babysit at my sister's expense the week after that
Back to Leeds for some gentle loafing to recover from all the loafing
Furiously try to fit 6 weeks worth of planning/marking into 5 days

I normally spend the day by the pool with the kiddies or day trip to museums, zoos, etc.  On vacation at the moment, drinking a cup of coffee at the cyber cafe since there's no internet access at the house we're renting.  Four days until my vacation from hell is over.

edited to add....I hate Cape Cod.  [>:]  I miss the Outer Banks.  [:(]

Firm and I have had company visiting for the past month.  Firm's been very busy with work, but we managed to squeeze in a camping/kayaking trip a couple of weeks ago.  No idea what the rest of the summer will bring as Firm is traveling for business quite a bit and I've loads of work to catch up on.  I imagine we'll manage some fun.  [;)]

We're going to Schlitterbahn

When I was in grad school, there was a yearly pilgrimage to the Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels.  It started with a stop in Austin at Baby Acapulcos for their margaritas, then tubing down the Columbia River for a day and it ended with a day at the Schlitterbahn.

I have to wonder if the tradition continues today....

For more than a month, I couldn't sleep well at all.  I would lay there awake because my body didn't think it was time for sleep with all the light outside.  I have not woken up not knowing the time, but I have a hard time judging the time during he day.  Eleven at night feels like 5 or 6 in the afternoon because of how bright it is.

So far I've not done much.  I've encountered 2 deer on a bike trail, a funny situation, until I found out a few miles down the trail that there was a baby bear near that area, glad I didn't run into it or its mamma.  I went to a Native American dance festival, it was cool.  Planning on an amusement park at some point, if my family can all agree on a free weekend.

Irishknight -> RE: Summer time recreation (7/23/2008 2:17:11 PM)

For the most part this summer I plan to sweat.  As has already been said, its freakin hot down here.  I might go fishing now that my parents are fully relocated away from Iowa.  There are five rivers in Randolph County, Arkansas and an insane number of ponds.  Its usually too hot to work the horses right now.
Maybe I'll be able to lose some weight from all this heat.
