Okay then the following plates need to be conficated as well cause if NGR is racist and intollerant then neither of the rest of these: NGR GOK GUK SPK CKR KYK BNR CON JAP CNK Hoe utterly fucking stupid. Someone needs to head off this Fear of Offending people, cause it's getting to a point where we are afraid to communicat with each other at all for fear that the words that we use will be inappropriate. This was BULLSHIT and anyone who see's validity in the fear needs to take a cold hard look at the world you are currently in and pull your head from the sand chicken little. Steel

General reply: I'm still nonplussed by the violence of some of the reactions on this thread. I wouldn't have a licence plate with a dodgy combination of letters either, whatever they may be: why should it bother people so much that some drivers are careful about such details? It looks to me as though they're being over sensitive over something that doesn't hurt anybody in any way [:(] . Which begs the question: why do they think it's such a big deal, in the end?

I'm a little confused myself,the consensus seems to be that it was acceptable that she didn't want the plate,but object that she notified the local paper..as I read the story the Motor Vehicle Dept was unresponsive to her reluctance to accept these plates.She than had a choice roll over and pay for new plates ,risk offending students and parents at work or pay the state a second tax for new plates...where is the problem with her availing herself of the press!!

The messed up thing is that there are 998 more plates with NGR on them and she is the ONLY one who complained? Plates are NOT really handed out in Numerical Order meaning that just because she was 018 or whatever didn't mean anything. Fear it is all fear based propaganda. Read the story she herself said why she didn't want it on her car it was because of how she owuld be precieved when there was NOTHING wrong with those three letters. I am Projecting nothing that isn't already there. What was wrong with those three letters? Seriouly? Do they Spell anything? When using Phonics do they ever SOUND like a word? In order to make it something inappropriate you have to MAKE it inappropriate. People finding it inappropriate are afraid of how they will be seen by others because the funny thing is the only ones I know who would be offended by it are the same people who are offended when coffee is ordered Black. Or try to turn every missed opportunity into a race issue. No one, and I mean NO one should have to live in Fear of an honest mistake but we make it such a huge issue here. A Racist is someone who HATES because of race not someone who puts a license plate on thier car. NGR is NOT a Racial Slur and those who think it is are making it one by not realizing how stupid this whole idea is. Steel

Aside from grumbling about the cost of plates for a new car, who has time to actually give a crap about what letters/numbers are on the plate unless they paid for a personalized plate? Some folks have -way- too much time on their hands and read -way- too much into random chance. Calla Firestorm

Steel, I understand what you are saying. However, a person who works with unmentionables frequently has every aspect of their life scrutinized. She did not want any problems in the future with parental units, etc. I recall a local mother who took lunch to one of her youngsters at a grade school cafeteria. While there her baby started crying from hunger and she began breast feeding, covering herself with a blanket. One of the cafeteria workers called the local PD. It was on the local news several months ago. [&:]

Getting rid of the license plates costs nothing. If they could offend people, regardless of it's warranted or not, why not get rid of them? It's a win-win situation to get rid of them.

[&:] good grief.......im a cafeteria manager, and i know several times moms have breastfed in a discreet way while visiting their children for lunch. id find a way to make the one that called the cops hate her job, and have an urge to quit, very quickly.
