Aylee -> The guy code (7/24/2008 1:32:05 PM)

Supposedly, when a guy wears just ONE earring, there is some sort of "code" that gives a meaning, depending on which ear it is.

Does anyone have this information on which ear has what meaning?

And does "type" of earring make any difference?

Thank you all!

[:o]  I'm going to show my age here but many years ago, if a man wore an earring in his left ear he was straight and if he wore it in his right he was gay.

MissVixen007 -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 1:35:47 PM)

From what I know, doesn't matter which ear, as long as there is only one pierced

*sucks it up on the age showing thang and concurs

In the 80's, when it started to be acceptable for guys to wear earrings; the left ear meant straight while the right or both meant gay, only for arbitrary reasons.  Also, only singular simple studs and hoops worked; only those into hard rock with big frizzy hair could wear anything else; usually a simple dangling silver cross, or perhaps an ankh or anarchy symbol.  But even those hard rockers were looked upon askance; being that with their common garb of long hair, tight jeans and even make-up, they were often prettier than the girls.

MasterGrim -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 1:45:29 PM)

I was never "informed* as to type meaning anything but left is "right"/straight, and right is "wrong"/gay

That is the only way I could ever remember since 99% of the guys I knew in school had them all in their left ears.
So my question to you now is:

What about the guys who wear both sides and multiples?

ps just to CMA. I meant no offense of anyone based on sexual preferences or kinks.
I hate everyone equally.[8D]

SteelofUtah -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 1:45:48 PM)

The ammount of earings also didn't mater as long as thier were more in the left ear then there were in the right.

HOWEVER!!!!!

All Pirates always wore thier earings in thier RIGHT ears. There was a reason for it however none of the historians can agree on what that reason was but all documantations of pirates whos ears were pirced it was always the right ear and it was usually a HEAVY gold ring that was on it.

Well. . . I know that sailors wore them in their left ears to denote sailing around the world or surviving a sinking ship.

Left = straight, also dom.  Right = gay, also sub/slave (s-type)

What side for a straight s-type?

MasterGrim -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 1:50:42 PM)

I do not think that would fulfill my requirements of "tasteful."

MasterGrim -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:02:53 PM)

ahhhh You want tasteful replies..... OK.... I musta missed that.
not  my forte. I haven't been accused of being tasteful.

so the question is where would a straight sub place their piercing......[8|] Hmmmm.

Wherever their Dominant tells them to??[8D]

Aylee -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:06:30 PM)

LOL

No, the replies need not be tasteful, just the look of the earring on my s-type.

If he had only ONE of his ears pierced, it would be a no-brainer.  But both of them are.  So I was trying to figure out the "code" behind it, as it is not something I have ever given much thought to before.

Domin8tingUrDrmz -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:10:47 PM)

In the 80s, the left/right thing had to do with gay straight as already posted.

Today, with body mods and body jewelry being fairly acceptable, I'm fairly certain there aren't any limits as to gay/straight, unless the earrings look rather feminine.  Most young guys who are into the body jewelry/ear piercings have the disk type rings inserted (I don't know what they are called, but they are the big open rings that create a huge hole in the ear, yanno? They often look like you could dangle about 40 hoops in the one hole.)  Anyway, I see these in either ear, or both ears.  When I've asked (and I have) if it denoted their sexual preference I usually got either a quizzical look, or a hearty laugh and a resounding NO!.

So, I think it is safe for a man to pierce whichever way he is comfortable (or required) and it is perfectly acceptable - just no frilly danglies for the heteros - unless of course you simply don't care what society thinks, then by all means, wear the danglies.

MasterGrim -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:14:25 PM)

I hadn't thought of it either until my grandsons started doing it.
*Grimaces at the showing of age*
I asked my oldest G-son and he has no clue either.

Although I did hear a "pierce the nose, it is in the middle of both" from the back of the whole crew here.
my slave said, "left side of nose for Ss and right for Gs." other than that she doesn't know either.

MasterGrim -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:19:05 PM)

Maybe the solution to this is to have different areas of the ear. SD left lobe. GS right lobe. Ss in the cartilage along the inside edge at the top of the left ear and lobe. Gs lobe and top of right?????

SteelofUtah -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:21:05 PM)

FUCKITALLTOHELL

Just get him a Jacobs Ladder and be done with it.

Since no one says what that one means you can say it means straight slave and post it in the Urban Dictionary.

Glad I could help

Steel

darchChylde -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:31:59 PM)

they don't mean shit anymore beyond "i hope nobody notices this in a fight"

MasterGrim -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:33:13 PM)

sounds like a plan....

Thadius -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:33:56 PM)

I would only add that something like these http://www.miamibeachvintage.com/viewitem.asp?ID=1886 would definitely send a message... other than that, I suppose what your s-type wears is up to you and the meaning behind it is solely up to your discretion.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: The guy code (7/24/2008 2:34:18 PM)

i got 2 in my left ear....what does that mean???

i had 2 in my right ear also...but ring fell out and it healed to quick...just never bother to get re done.
