When I was in Orlando, I met a woman who grew up in the southwest, and she was BDSM-adopted by an Old Guard-style leather club there. She was the only straight woman in the club. She's a sub, and said the tradition she was taught was the sub should always bring her (his) own toys, and play with them only, to guarantee no problems in transmission of bodily fluids. This was a formalization of something I was already practicing. When I've met for play, I have almost never brought more than a blindfold and a pair of wrist restraints. It's the sub's job to bring things she wants to be used on her. I came upon that formula as a way to help ensure somone I was meeting (often for the first time) that she was safe and had control of the situation. Besides, with a blindfold, a wooden spoon and a butter knife you can achieve a phenomenal range of sensation. So I'd suggest you acquire (1) insertables, (2) a flogger, (3) anything else you'd like that is likely to soak up sweat, or blood if there's an accident (or that's the plan). That way you'll know your long-term health is safe.
