yeah Daddy and I do shop for bargains, like the buy one get two free offers or buy 10 for 10 bucks.

My doctor approves of me drinking ocean spray light, course that don't nessisarily mean anything lol.

but even so I've just gotten away from buying it, because I have so many other options for drinks, plus honestly it don't last long, 3 glasses* not all at once either* empties almost the entire bottle.

What do our taste buds need to be retrained to? I mean unless you're used to junky sugary drinks an use crystal light to avoid the junk?

Of course you don't want to replace one fix with another, but it's a mighty damn good way to get tons of water with out realizing it lol.

Of course some flavors are worse than others, as far as taste. Like one of the ones I picked tasted just like fruit punch an I hate fruit punch, another I tried was honey lemon green tea and it was just gross.

Crystal light for me is a treat, it's enjoyable it tastes good, and it's easily obtained and it's pretty cheap when you buy off brand or depends on where you buy it.

The reason I am not entirely keen on things like Crystal Light (although I do have it around for those times when I have cravings) is that it doesn't help with retraining your taste buds. Ocean Spray Light isn't 100% fruit juice, but a fruit cocktail so it's probably not the best thing.

I know that good food is expensive, but if you think about it, isn't your health worth it? I try to adapt that philosophy when I'm grocery shopping, although I will opt for fruit that is on sale and watch for bargains whenever I can.

Regular oatmeal is great for breakfast. You can add fruit to flavour it. (Hey what about those peaches you mentioned?) And if you add cinnamon along with the fruit you have an added taste dimension, plus the medicinal benefits of cinnamon. :)

While it's been advised already, I'd like to suggest talking to a Nutritionist as well.  From my own experience, I was in an eating disorder program and as part of that I met with a Nutritionist.  It was not a quick here's a list of what to eat.  It was a very long involved discussion.  What was my schedule, what was my budget, what did I like, what did I dislike.  At the end of the session I had a very workable diet plan for me.  I knew what foods to eat at what meals and how much.  It also included dining out at restaurants and yes fast food.

For me seeing a Nutritionist was a huge help.  Now if only I had stayed on the damn program, lol!!

If you want more details on what she recommended, please feel free to email me.

A nutrionist would be beneficial for you.  I have a LOT of weight to lose and was greatly concerned about getting diabetes since I have both sides of my family who have had it on down to my grandfather, cousins, and an aunt.  This tends to skip a generation and I may be prone to get this disease.

I am trying to go on a 1,200 calorie diet as I am only 5'1".  I am keeping a food diary to gauge what I put in my mouth and sometimes, I will fail to do so and write my thoughts down, reminding myself to get healthy again. I go on the treadmill, which is not only good to walk at stomping out my frustrations on some days, but I feel a lot better.

I used to drink diet coke and Bacardi rum and a lot of it, like having 4-5 huge glasses on some evenings.  Talk about having some emotional issues as I think I was undergoing a lot of depression.  I have stopped this destructive habit, have switched to ice tea, water and an occasional carbonated beverage like diet root beer or Sprite.

My mother lost 50 pounds in eight months by following these recommendations.  We support each other as I am very proud that she looks good.  She has become an inspiration to me.  Good luck.

Yeah.. that was nice.  The woman is making an effort to lose weight and you are ragging because she mentions obstacles?  Classy.
To the OP,
keep at it kid.  I expect to see you at the first returning party in Sept, a full size lower.  Family WILL try to undermine you, even though they mention how you should lose weight.  That part is nearly unavoidable for the first 6 months or so.  Once they see some improvement that should change.

Misso, thanks I was just going to ignore his comment. We're going strong at the gym. Not going as often as we should but I am going at least twice a week!

Yeah I think a nutritionist will be a good start. LEarn about foods and serving sizes and, maybe we can even plan some meals out for me that are well balanced.

I know that eggs and one piece of toast and a fruit  or two scrambled eggs one piece of non buttered toast an a small juice  are good breakfasts, the personal trainer I was seeing recomended those, But I have no clue what I should be eating for lunch. Will a nutritionist also be able to tell you how many calories you should be consuming and burning too?

janigrey I'll have to see if kiaser offers anything like that. I know they offer classes like healthy ways,  and it talks about healthy eating and having a healthy life, but it's expensive.

I think a nutritionist is the way to go, and make sure you get very specific about portion sizes and what items are ok.  I don't think two scrambled eggs every day plus a piece of toast is that great.  Aren't egg yolks awful for dieters?  Try hard boiled egg whites instead.

I think it's great you are being proactive and taking care of yourself! There will always be detractors and snipers(!), but look at how many people have responded genuinely and are pulling for you (Me included!![:)])!!

You don't have to have eggs every day you mix it up, one day eggs the next say oatmeal, an then the next day say a bowl of cereal.

I don't know anything about eggs being bad for those watching their weight, there's been all kinds of statements made about eggs from way back when they were bad for you, to now days studies are saying people who eat eggs are at less risk for heart related health problems. which was just stated in the newspaper a couple of days ago.

It was once considered a very bad source of cholesteral, but I've been hearing that eggs have gotten a bad rap and have been falsly accused.

My question though, is why would someone who's a certified personal trainer and was knowegable in nutrition an everything ou have to be knowlegable in to be a liscend certified PT in the state of california be telling someone specially someone who's watching what they eat and trying to eat right, things that are bad for them? I doubt they would, but it's been known to have happend before.
I kind of backed off on wanting toast cause I Read the ingrediants in the kind we buy, it's whole wheat an grains, you know all the rave an shit, but the first main ingrediant in it, is high fructose corn syroup. And that is one of the few things my doctor said to avoid at all costs.

I guess when we go grocery shopping I'll have to read the ingrediant list on everything an make sure shit I don't want or can't eat aint sneaking into the most unlikely foods.
