I am a Fraud Pathologist and work for a company that handles many Finacial instutions accts.

It is a temp to perm gig..

I sit staring at Credit Card accts all day deciding if we are going to give them money on fraud cases or not.  Blissfuly I do not have to talk to any customers.. or deal with anyone really...

Last 7 years was spent in Telecomm management in call centers. *makes a face*

No body fetchs my coffee any more. *sighs* and all my perks are gone.

But at least I have a job in these awful times.

I am looking for slaves with excellent high paying jobs or who have a nice sized monthly trust fund and who will support me in my laziness and let me live a life of relaxation and torpidity. If anyone who is reading this thread has those qualifications and wants to be my insta-slave, please feel free to contact me on the other side.

I think the person who mentioned attititude has the key. It is not the job that counts but the way that the person lives and approaches their job that counts.

When I met my Master he was working for a auto alarm company but now he runs his own Luxury Car Upgrade company. His approach to work was the same in either role as is his approach to life in general.

Bah in NZ, Dell is managed from the Malaysia HQ
If you have a fault, Dell NZ techs use returned parts that "tested ok"
Seriously a Dell tech swapped out EVERY part (except the case) in a production SCADA server with a fault, and gave it a whole new fault.
At a million dollars plus a day in product, the SCADA server's DELL support contract almost went to hiring Dommes to give CBT to the Dell NZs manager for every hour it was down. It turns out, lawyers are cheaper and scarier.
And Dell NZ just could not get "new" replacement parts!!
We wanted new replacement parts, and it took two weeks for the shipped (by actual "floating on the water" ship) parts to arrive.
We wound up switching the SCADA servers to HP, purely for their OZ base and the overnight couriering.

(For the non tech's, SCADA is production line control. They control machinery. so you dont just lose the mere ones and zeros, actual physical stuff can get wrecked. Or more typically, product not made. So swapping to totally different hardware in an ITIL enviroment involves serious paperwork)

When I was a mid-level technical manager (running depart-sized groups) most of my staff loved mme, my bosses hated me.  For some reason my managers have always hated the fact that I didn't bs, kiss ass or any other management technique they liked.  I've also been a C-level executive; dealing with a BOD wasn't any more entertaining.

For the last 10 years or so I've been a successful author.  It sure beats working for a living.

My dear Sir is a grease monkey aka an automotive and  heavy duty mechanic. He's hoping to one day rebuild old classic vehicles and sell them. Could be a nice retirement hobby I'm thinking.

At one job I answer phones, tell security personnell where to go, initiate emergency response chains, etc. The other I basically tell chronic schizophrenics what to do. Both have awesome perks, and are the kind of jobs where you aren't doing something every single minute of the day. They tend to follow the hour of downtime then 5 minutes of doing 40 things at once, then another 2 dead hours.

I've done all sizes, and size is less important than the willingness to spend money on stuff that's fundamental to the companies business
In this case they brought a second server for each control position as a spare.
$10K for the server +5K(?) for support +$20K for proprietary SCADA card. 6 positions *2 = $420K, not including labour
It didn't cost, asmuch as it saved.

But I've seen stock broking systems run off an overclocked PC for a server, and the muggles then boasting about how they get massive ROI by unknowingly skipping redundancy and reliablity.

At the end of the day it comes back to the basics of economics. Needs and Wants. You need to have the fundamentals sorted no matter what your company size. And companies tend to only stay small if they've not figured out their fundamental issues

I'm a physicist, only really agressive in the fact that do my job and make sure that i get results of what is asked not. All Dominants and Masters differ from person to person and day to day. It's their own lives that help decide who they are and how they approach something, not the stereotype of what a Dominant personality must be.
