Just out of curiosity, did you feel the same way about about an inexperienced, one-term Governor from Texas when he ran against McCain for the Republican nomination?

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to get a response from any Senator Obama supporter that doesn't involve a comparison? It seems to be saying something, when the best thing to be said is a comparison to another person, especially when that person has been so vilified by the same source.

I think that speaks best about the Senator's lack of positive past references and experience; and represents best his lack of qualifications.

You've got a point. The best thing they can say about him seems to be, he's just like Bush.

A reply to the thread in general - this has to do with Mr. Obama's credentials, and his qualifications (or lack thereof) for the office of President -

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2007/12/28/politics/fromtheroad/entry3655798.shtml

I doubt that it will change anyone's mind, however - "Don't confuse me with the facts, my minds's already made up"

At the time of his election to the Senate, anyone in Illinois with the slightest bit of common sense could have beaten Alan Keyes, the carpetbagger brought in by the beleaguered Republican party in Illinois. Mr Obama is a third year junior senator, who has spent the last 2 years campaigning for President.

Regarding John McCain vs, GW Bush, I voted for him from the start, including writing him in at the last election

The Government just released the latest Federal Budget Deficit figures... up 20% from their estimation. So... $490 BILLION, folks. The highest ever recorded.

Nice job: whomever succeeds these clowns is going to HAVE to raise taxes, one way or another. It's hilarious that Republican voters are already anticipating blaming the Democrats for such a shameful record: but whoever said honesty was their main quality?

$490,000,000,000.00

You have to laugh, I suppose [:D] .

[>:]

Uhm, why is the first thing that comes to your mind a raise in taxes?  Shouldn't it be a cut in spending?

The reason I posted this topic, is actually 2 fold.  First being that a presidential candidate having to check in to a medical facility for a health issue seems to be a valid bit of information (I would have posted an article if McCain slipped and broke his hip).

Secondly, there seems to be something at out of place here with the story.  The campaign claims that he was having the issue prior to his trip, and then says it's a basketball injury.  They said it was a hip injury, and the Chicago media is reporting it as a knee injury.  If he was having issues before the trip started and or injured it while playing basketball, why didn't he get the xrays while in Germany, hell the hospital was waiting to receive him with open arms.  Why did he choose to wait to go to a medical facility that his wife is a vice president at?

I know I am a bit cynical, but after dealing with politicians from Chicago most of my life, it is sort of a natural position to take.

Vendaval -> RE: Obama hip problems???? (7/28/2008 3:13:26 PM)

This seems a non-issue to me.  Senator Obama stays physically active playing basketball and had a sore hip.  He went to see a doctor to make sure everything was alright.  How is that hiding a physical problem?

Is it a knee or a hip?  Did it bother him before the trip or get injured during the trip?  If it was bad enough to require x-rays, why didn't he get it checked out at LRMC while in Germany, it is the biggest US hospital outside of the continental US.

Hell there may be nothing more to this than he was a bit sore.  Though the inconsistancies in the campaign statement, followed by him waiting to get it checked out until he could go to the facility that his wife has an awful lot of pull at, simply make me raise the questions I asked.

Do I think this is an issue that makes him not viable as a presidential candidate? NO.  I do think health issues of both candidates are a valid topic for discussion, and should be fully disclosed.  It is as simple as that.

Considering who he is running against,I really don't see a scenario where Obama's health is an issue....

Depends on what health problem Obama is hiding.

This would need to be one doozy of a health issue to make a 72 y/o seem preferable to a 47 y/o man health wise...Kittin anyone that could be influenced by this stuff has bigger problems than who will occupy the Oval Office

Stage 2A melanoma.

Ouch [8D] . Which reminds me: I mustn't miss that long-awaited for appointment with the dermatologist (being brought up on the Mediterranean wasn't all that great, after all) [&:] .

Vendaval -> RE: Obama hip problems???? (7/28/2008 4:43:54 PM)

Let's see here, Senator McCain has some of the usual problems for a person of his years.  The most serious being the melanoma.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/05/23/mccain.health.records/index.html

Senator Obama is in good health and is using Nicorette gum to break the smoking habit.

I thought a bit amusing. Obama at 45 having a health problem
while everyone puts McCain down for his age.

BTW my vote for McCain is a lesser of two evils vote. I wanted
Huckabee.

People usually fail when trying to quit smoking, it's a tough addiction to end. But I wasn't aware that Obama was the addict type personality in the first place... you know, obsessive-compulsive. That's not a good quality in a potential president!

Hmm. Same as Bush though - so that must make it alright.

Nothing  new there about the addictive personality...

quote:

http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/Obama_Audio_Book_/2008/07/08/110818.html
For example, in recalling his high school days in Hawaii, Obama declares: “I kept playing basketball, attended classes sparingly, drank beer heavily, and tried drugs enthusiastically … If the high didn’t solve whatever it was that was getting you down, it could at least help you laugh at the world’s ongoing folly.”

Anybody up for getting together to get high and druck to laugh about the world's ongoing folly?
