I recently got offered qutie a bit of money to do some 'pro-dom' work.
Who all here has gone pro?
What did you do to safeguard yourself legaly and physicaly?
Was there anything special about how you negotiated with your clients? Was there something about your technique that made your clients want to come back?

I've made it clear that there will be no direct sexualy contat between my client and myself, what other restrictions have you all put on your professional interactions?

I've been a pro dominant on and off for years........

I am intrigued---are you seeing male or female clients, or both?

You can't get much useful information on an international board about legality since each town is different. It's not just the local laws but how the local law enforcement feel about prodomming. For example, when I ran Inner Explorations in Boston, it was pretty clearly illegal on several dimensions but as long as oral, anal or vaginal sex was not involved the local law wasn't interested.

One thing I would strongly recommend is that you do your professional play away from your home. Should you be busted in your home it is all open to what could be a very destructive search and given the local laws the town might even be able to seize it.

My recommendation is to go to your local strip club, ask the owner who he uses for a lawyer and go pay that lawyer for information.

I have no gender preference so far as clients are concerned. I've only been approached by men so far.

Obviously I'm not seeking legal advice, just curious as to what others have done. I'm definatly NOT going to be doing this in my home. The owners of a local BDSM club have agreed to let me rent their dungeon space when I need it. My local laws are pretty strict and the city where this will happen has a police chief who is hell bent on cracking down on adult industries, you can't even get within 3' of an exotic dancer. I have some friends who are lawyers... I'll see what they say.

Not to seem ignorant but I am curious - There are Professional Dom/Domme's? What is the difference between being a regular one and a professional one?

Professionals get paid... in money. Others get paid in service/emotional committment/loyalty/affection/love.

Many people find money easier to part with.

First things first. I don't take a client until we have met for lunch/dinner, and a long conversation. They know, before I even arrive, that they will be handed a simple contract which includes the statement that they are seeking this on their own. It will be signed, I will see appropriate ID, and then I take it from there. I am careful of the laws, I am a Pro Domina in the disciplinary realm, and there is no sexual contact.
I have not had a problem. Hope this helps. Email Me on the other side, if you like.

Interesting. I would never think that a ProDom would be a draw, but I heard this morning, on one of the TV morning shows, that Heidi Fleiss is opening a Ranch in Las Vegas, with male prostitutes. Not quite the same, but ya just gotta figure some Doms will be there with their resumes.

I get so many requests for <cough cough> "forced" bi, that I think a male who doesn't mind getting blow jobs or fucking some guy in the ass could do quite well on his own or working for a female dominant.

I have never met a woman who had to pay for it.........but I can see the appeal of the no-strings session there, as well.

As JW points out, money is ever so much easier to part with than true feeling.

I guess as John pointed out it depends on your local laws. Where i live, i would need to register as a sex worker and have a clean bill of health for the dungeon (which would need to be a registered business) and would be limited where i could opperate under the same guide lines as legal brothels).

If you get the chance mate (to the OP) go for it.

I'm making a serious attempt to "go pro" on the other end of the whip.

As far as I understand my local laws, it's all legal as long as there is -no- sexual contact (heterosexual PIV/PIM contact). It's very possible I'm totlaly wrong though.

~grins~ Now if you were thinking about going pro with needle play and/or shibari my ears would be really pricking up.... RWL

In about two years at Inner Explorations, we had perhaps four women who wanted to pay for a session. Two of them wanted our female dommes. This was out of thousands of for pay sessions.

Exactly. From my perspective, I am more likely to make friends with a woman, anyway! :)

Actually, she's not opening one of her own, and it's not in Las Vegas. She's moving to some podunk little town some 80 miles away (prostitution is illegal in Vegas) and allegedly going to work for the owner of two bordellos, who was more than adamant that Heidi is NOT going to be a partner in his business, but an employee. However, because she is a convicted felon, she may not even be able to work in a house of prostitution, because the laws governing them are VERY strict. That part was touched on briefly in the article I saw, but it didn't really say much about what laws she would be violating by working in a bordello.

Just a female pimp who became famous because her ancestry could be traced to the Mayflower, and because her girls were some of the highest paid hookers in the country. She spent some time in prison for things like tax evasion, pandering, and something else I can't remember, as a result of her activities.

You have the wrong woman. Sydney Biddle Barrows was "The Mayflower Madam" and is also the author of an excellent (and scene friendly) book of Sexual Etiquette. She was arrested for "Running a Disorderly House" on the East Coast. Heidi Fleiss operated on the West Coast, to be precise, in the LA area.
