The newspaper article seems to imply that (Secretary aside) pretty much all dominance in movies is Femdom. This seems to be a predominant mainstream media misconception, that "bondage = (usually paying) male client in a (usually professional) female dominatrix's dungeon". The number of (good) male dom/femsub movies people have suggested here shows otherwise, but it's a message that never seems to make it in the outside world. Do you think it's partly political correctness, that even if movies are being made about female submission, as per Blue Velvet, 9 1/2 Weeks, etc., the "done thing" is to ignore that because it plays into feminist or rape concerns, but meanwhile it's OK to play up the male sub stereotype? Obviously femdom as a kink is totally legitimate and fine and lots of people here have it as their kink, and good luck to them; but it is striking how the mainstream associates pretty much all BDSM with femdom these days (maybe even more so in Britain)m and the news article is a good example. I find hard to regard it as a good and balanced article given those things.
