1st he was againsts the tax cuts and voted against them.

As candidate McCain,he flip-flopped on those tax cuts for millionares,to win the hearts and minds of republicans.

"
In a March 16 interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity, McCain said he would cut taxes where possible, and not raise them.

"Do you mean none?" Hannity asked.

"None," McCain replied."

Now......he said there nothing off the table.

McCain:

"There is nothing that's off the table. I have my positions, and I'll articulate them. But nothing's off the table," McCain said. "I don't want tax increases. But that doesn't mean that anything is off the table."


Sen. McFlip-flop,....

Is there any issue he hasn`t changed his position.

Status: offline 		I change my mind on things all the time. At one time, I actually preferred Senator McCain to Senator Obama ... so I guess I flip-flopped.
 
I see this as a non-issue. I would not want a President who is unwilling to have their mind changed.

So you want someone like that, who can't change their mind because their ideals for the country are so deeply glued to their brain ?

The rest of what I have to say is material for another post. But really, do you want someone who is so stone into their own beliefs that they can be convinced of nothing ?  Think about that.

Do you want your spouse`s loyalties to be less than solid?

That raise you were promised,don`t you want your boss to keep his word?

Do you want your friends to blow you off/ditch you, for whatever reason?

This isn`t about a choice of ice-cream flavors or what clothes to wear.

This was for the edification of conservatives anyway.They`re the one`s who`re going to be pissed off about this.

Status: offline 		Why is it considered good by you when McCain changes his position (flip-flops) but when Obama changes his position you act like he has committed fraud to the people of this country.

You can't call it good when your person does it and bad when the other person does the same thing.

That's just not fair and balaneced

Status: offline 		And frankly, Obama really hasn't been changing his position on all that much. If anything, he's just been offering more nuanced descriptions of his positions.

But yeah, McCain flip-flopped... And thanks to Bush Sr.'s famous "Read my lips" lie, the American people are more than a little sensative about position changes when it comes to taxes... especially from the GOP.

Meanwhile, Obama's talking about raising the taxes on the uber rich, (earners of $250,000 or more) while offering another stimulus package to the rest of us. (The same position he's always had... it's just republican commentators like to leave out the "on the rich" part of his increased taxes plan.)

Let's see... six months ago McCain would have gone red in the face and started swinging at anyone who mentioned a timeline for getting out of Iraq. After Obama's visit, and the Iraqi president Maliki (sp?) saying that it would be good for the American trrops to leave, suddenly he's taking credit for the "16 month plan" that Obama had suggested. Now both the Bush regime and McCain are just all smiles and glowing about the "time horizion" (or if you prefer to drop the 1984-style word play... a timeline. Another, huge glaring flip flop on their parts.

"No new taxes"

This is also the reason why I keep saying.  I'd just like once in my life someone to tell the truth.  Just lay it on the line.  This is who I am, if you don't like me don't vote for me.  Although I'm not going to jump through hoops for you to gain your vote because that isn't me.

Doubt I will see that person in my lifetime but I can hope.

On the flip-flop thing,when conditions change I want my nominee to take the new conditions into account,I for one would be very pleased if we could all lose this unfortunate tendency to label the opposing candidate with this silly tag.That being said there is a general election rather than a primary going on...so McCain's advisors direct him to the more conservative position so as to appeal to the base of his party.Obama on the other hand seems also to be moving to the center,in his case to appeal to the independant voter and disgruntled Republicans...it would seem there is no worry on the Democratic side of wholesale defections to McCain who by appealing to the core of his party forestalls such defections anyway.

I can understand when things change so do our opinions.  Yet, they could tell us why they changed their minds.  After all it is the public who they are trying to win over.  Instead of making themselves look like liars. 
The only time we don't think they look like liars is when it is our own candidate doing the lying.  Which is why somebody is always accused of flip flopping.

Never the less at the end of the day it is what it is.  That's why I'd like to see truth run just once.  Just to see, can they make it into office on truth or does the truth actually kill?
In the end they won't make good on their promises anyway because the president doesn't have the ability to just change things on a whim.  The only thing the president can do is take us to war.

Actually, that was President Bush I. His failure to live up to that statement was a major reason he didn't get reelected.

You're right..to me a Bush is a Bush either way.  No matter how you look at it..I was taken to war with the first Bush..and innocent people were taken back to war with the second Bush to finish what we weren't allowed to finish the first time around.  Sort of jaded me.
