ORIGINAL: Thadius I wonder when they are going to mandate exercise programs. I mean let's face it, for some of the folks being targeted the only time they move is to go to the fridge, restroom, or to get some fast food. Now they won't have to leave the house, as often. As one of the Marines in Generation Kill said " Only in America can poverty be measured by obesity". I bring it up partly tongue in cheek, because only here do we have to close restaurants down to prevent the poor from overeating. C'est la vie, Thadius Maybe they could mandate that the obese, poor, welfare recipients (insert your favourite scapegoat) started running rickshaws for those poor overpaying for gas priced city dwellers with jobs, there must be a market for it, they could drive busses in from South Cnetral, drop em off at the rickshaw place and send em out..it gives em excercise.... no time to eat.... then bus em back home again and stopping off at a supermarket. It saves on gasoline, mind you the pollution might kill a few of em off, but theres hundreds more where they came from.... maybe have a portable defibrillator in each rickshaw for anyone who has a heart attack while running from the gangs. Oh or attach one of those armbands to each fat person, so that when they try to get in a fast food place they are zapped... that would be worth the fun value?? Maybe we could send you down David Tsubouchi to give the really important dirt on how to properly feed a family ...haggle the price of dented tuna down to 69 c a can. He prepared a sample menu for those on welare (who were going to get a 22% cut in benefits). Only problem was it was found to have less nutritional value than meals for those who were in jail. Obesity is an issue in the westernworld, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, etc etc, mandating what people can and cant eat, and forcing them to excercise, should give the human rights commission a hard on. Bloody ridiculous Lucy I like the way you think. Taking care of 4 problems with the same solution. Obesity with the exercise, pollution with the human powered transport, jobs for those that are unemployed, and a legitimate way for those folks to get food other than fast food. Sheer genius I am actually surprised there hasn't been more outcries from the folks that actually enjoy fast food, and are responsible enough to eat it in moderation. Sign me up for one of those rickshaws, I like to exercise, and hell I can get a tan at the same time, do I have to be in poverty to qualify?
