Termyn8or -> Ground beef, sausage (7/30/2008 9:53:31 PM)

I use it, burgers, on the occasions that I eat a pasta dish, and in other things.

Has anyone noticed that the consistency has changed to that of sawdust ? There came about a new set of rules for labelling and now it is all dry. I am serious. They seem to have actually removed too much grease from it.

I am serious, and the same thing has happened to sausage.

When I used to make spagetti sauce with sausage and meatballs it was good, and part of that is that the meat was good. If you ate it were you eating all that grease ? NO. After the sauce was assembled it was of course cooked. The grease rose to the top three times and got stirred back in, but it always came back up again. The last time it was skimmed off. You would not be eating it, but it was an essential part of the cooking process.

So as usual they fuck it all up, they try to make a food I eat healthier and now I don't want it anymore. I am serious, I have gravitated away from it. I don't like it anymore. You can add all the water or even milk to it you want, but to me it seems to have the consistency of sawdust.

The olman has a sausage stuffer and I have a meat grinder, we have talked about this. It seems a good sausage recipe has about 35% fat in it. This activates the spices and they have alot in there in the good stuff. But realize you don't actually eat all that grease. I don't, I know how to let things drain for a time. I also know how to skim the grease off of soup, stew or sauce.

The best ground beef I had lately was some black angus burgers, and they did have fat, and they did shrink quite a bit. But the other shit isn't worth eating as far as I am concerned.

It seems like everything I like they stop making. I used to be one of the most avid milk drinkers you could lay eyes upon, but over the period of a week or so I stopped. Later I found that that happened to coincide with the time when they started "stabilizing" milk. I didn't like it anymore. It tasted different.

OK folks, that is my official rant for the day. Have at it. I would really like to know what others' think though, and if others are noticing this. Bottom line, ground meat sucks these days.
