He's not great at staying on the RNC's list of talking points, bless his heart. Shows he's not a communist in doing so. Maybe he could be a Gorbachev figure of the Republican party....

That's probably what Europeans told him. They're not fans of puritans and they feel US unilateralism is destabilizing to the world's greater security. I think most of the world would breath a sigh of relief if the Preemption Doctrine were locked away.

Anyway, its good that McCain shows soul and independence, because Republican "party discipline" is partly what's created our current mess and balkanized our own nation after being so unified after 9-11.

The Republican party needs to be reformed back into the image and values that it held prior to Reagan (borrow and spend) and Bush-Rove (winning is grabbing power v. administering good policies and sensible government.) The party needs to shed its ideological rigidity in favor of consensus building and problem solving. On the inside, McCain knows that demonizing and misrepresenting his opponent wins little more than a short term victory and amounts to nothing more than a political power grab.

What's great is that he's really not suited to being a party hack or ideological wonk.

Also, the Republican faithful needs to push for better leadership. The idea that "our guys are better than the Democrats" is a really low standard of political expectations.

Nope,the repuplicans have that well in hand.We`re attepting to address the train wreck,not add to it.

I think that what Obama did (successfully) was to assure the Europeans that he was going to end the madness(insanity).

A good analogy would be crazed ,out of control policemen waving pistols at everyone (neo-cons),shooting innocent bystanders and someone coming along to tell the public(Obama), that the counter-productive "crazy-cop" policy would end soon.

Glad to see your thinking conforms to the stated "Us vs. Them" policy paradigm. Must warm Bush's heart to know that all Americans now think as he does.

Yup. The quoted out of context.

Before that, they spread a lie about the reasons for not visiting the wounded.

Before that, they spread the word that he was Muslim.

Now they are digging out a single quote about possibly raising taxes on "dirty energy" while promoting newer, leaner alternatives... and make it sound like he's going to jack up everyone's electrical bill....

These things would be insulting, if they weren't so pathetic...

But they are right about one claim... he IS a rock star. 200,000 people showed up at his speech in Germany... Thank god they thought ahead, and got the stadium in Denver for his speech at the DNC on the 25th... prepare for "Obamastock!"
