Another thing no one is talking about: if I were a Packers season-ticket holder, I'd cancel immediately.  A team that's willing to pay someone $20 million to stay home is a team that takes its fan base for granted.  Where is that money supposed to come from?  More Brett Favre t-shirts?

The report in the paper (Wisconsin State Journal) today says that Mark Murphy went to talk to Farve about the $20 million, but those talks have reportedly been going on since March. The report states that it is for marketing purposes and to keep Brett involved with the Pakers over the next ten years.Murphy was already on the plane to Mississippi when Farve faxed in his reinstatment papers, and the press picked up on it and reported that they wanted to pay him to stay retired.

Is either the complete truth? Probably not, I suspect it is a combination of both, like most everything else that has been reported so far. Tune in tomorrow for the next story ov the saga......same Brett time, same Brett channel.

Regardless of how they choose to spin this, I think we all understand that this is "stay away and let us move on" money.

I will not play for the Packers for 1,000,000.00 a year for 5 years, a considerable savings. Someone inform the Packers please!

Favre is on a plane on the way to Packers camp; according to NBC, the team has changed their tune, and will have an open contest to determine who will start at QB.

He'll beat Rodgers for the starter qb job.  I don't see Rodgers beating him.  Comments?

If he leads them to a SB victory, his name will become legendary.

If not, I think a lot of people will see it as him putting his ego above the team, and retarding Rogers development.

Personally, I like Favre, and hope he does well (just not better than Dallas).
