This very well could have been the asshole who sent anthrax in the mail to democratic lawmakers and some TV stations,killing five and hurting many others,just after 9/11.

I hope it was him.We`ll see.

And in the meantime... how many others have started doing the same? Incubating Anthrax, and even creating a weaponized version of it, is childs play compared to building a nuclear bomb... maybe that's what Ahmademajhad (sp?) meant when he said atomic bombs... "were soooo 20th Century."

Not really.

It`s in the environment naturally,but weaponizing it requires a staff,a lab and money.Plus it has a shelf life.You pretty much have to be a government to get the resources together to produce it and hold it.

It was easy(relatively) for the FBI to track the pathogen b/c it had "tagets" and other characteristics that mark it`s source or laboratory where the strain came from.

The gubment wants chemical companies to put chemical tagets in their explosives, to make them easier to trace in case they`re used by criminals.

Great idea.Guess who`s against it?

Ivins was innocent. He was the scapegoat; he benefitted in no way.

The suspect party is the one that got awarded 5.8 million dollars and thus benefitted in a major way.

If it was so easy to track this stuff back to the government lab where it came from.... why has it taken them FIVE YEARS to get this close to making an arrest?

I found the post suicide coverage to be interesting... the lab claims that the guy had a history of making homicidal threats to others... that he had a temper... that he had problems socializing with other people.... one of his supervisors was quick to compare him to the Unabomber, in "profile."....

SO WHY WAS THIS GUY WORKING IN A GOVERNMENT BIO WARFARE LAB?

I also found it interesting how footage is being dug up, from the time of these anthrax attacks, (but pre-Iraq invasion) of various republicans getting on TV, and swearing up and down that they had "good intelligence" that this stuff was coming from Iraq. They may not have had any evidence one way or another, but they sure as hell took advantage of this homegrown terrorisim to spook us all into supporting their misguided war without a goal.

Tagents are an old idea. But it's not rocket science to create something as simple as gun powder. And I think it's going to be difficult to do that with every last pound of ammonium nitrate.
