It is because of this debate that I have labled myself a Zooble and Cuffkinks is the only Other Zooble in Existence. They are the Highest Form of Dominant, they are above all other Dominants and cannot be defeated, unless you have a +3 Throwing Dagger and a Bag of Plenty.

Then we can Trade Titles for the Bag of Plenty and the Dagger, But know that the title is enchanted and will make you a dark elf with a Chrasima of 1 and you lose light foot.

I would play along but they nerfed the "True Master" class at level 12 in "Advanced BSDM 4th edition", I moved over to playing "World of Domcraft" where I have a level 17 "Real Dominant" going.

SirWAX -> RE: Just a dom? (8/3/2008 2:09:21 AM)

well, in the World of Domcraft, I am known as MasterSirWAXDomTop.... but I earned that title so you all can try to attack ME if you can.

EDIT:

But on a serious note, this guy really just wanted to know the difference, which is different for everybody.

There is no "just" to being a Dominant. Masters are not somehow magically higher in rank or worthiness.

Ditto, lol~

Well I thought I knew the difference between Dom and Master, but I guess, like SixWAX said, that its different for everyone.. seems that's how it is for most questions that I see here, haha..

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments~   =]

My personal take on this, is that when I'm single, I'm a dom.
When I'm dating, I'm a dom.
When I'm training, or I've collared her, I'm her Master.

But that's just me. :)

leadership527 -> RE: Just a dom? (8/4/2008 9:59:54 PM)

Dom, master, top, and zoobie are all undefined words.  A word without a definition is just a sound as it conveys no meaning.  I'm a "master" because I like how it rolls of the tongue better than Dominant.  I'm also a "master" because that word matches my internal definitions which are very likely not shared by any other person on the face of the planet.  Really though, mostly I'm just "Jeff"

Nod, I agree... except for the Jeff part of course :P

Master has a much deeper meaning for me and requires a deeper level of control. This is my definition and being that it varies from person to person its important that the Top and Bottom communicate about what roles will be taken and how those are roles are defined in the scope of the relationship.

I like 'Master' because then I can be Masterful.  Can you be Domiful?  Not sure.

RavenMuse -> RE: Just a dom? (8/5/2008 1:10:49 AM)

Whilst I am Master to My girl and in a full relationship Dynamic that is My natural state, when I take on a playpartner then to that girl I am her Dom, not her Master as whilst I take a lot of control I don't OWN a playpartner.

Out on the London scene I know plenty of Doms who certainly don't consider themself a Master. They run lower level (Lower in terms of authority exchanged, not lower in terms of a value judgement) Dynamic, it is what They are natualy suited to and they are secure about who and what they are.

I wander on here to talk about it when I'm taking a break and having a coffee. The rest of the time I'm off living it.[:D]

kikkikat -> RE: Just a dom? (8/5/2008 11:25:02 PM)

Love this thread.  Laughed out Loud at the D&D stuff.  (Is it really sad that I not only got that, but that we've referred to such things before?)
My two cents:
I agree it's completely subjective.  My Dom and I consider ourselves "Dom/sub".  This has to do with being defined by things that we feel comfortable with.  I'm just not slave material.  That said, I do believe that in the beginning he was "Topping" me.   And often during a scene I will refer to Him as "Master" as the intensity is raised.  It's a statement that lets us both know how far to that end of the spectrum I am.

Oh and "Jeff" - I think that was so well put that I'd love to steal it for my profile!
