In my neighbourhood homes are generally sold as part of a farm which is sold by the acre. Last place I heard about was about $5,000 per acre. The house, barns, well, septic tank, hog confinement, etc.........they are all added on to the value of the land to come up with a total farm price. In my general area, depending on the town, you can get a really decent house for less than $80,000.00, easily. If you go 30 miles further north to Iowa City they will be in the $200,000.00 to 800,000.00 range for a really nice custom new home. There you cannot find a decent home for under $100,000.00.
