Honestly, some people just come here to read other people's opinions. They Lurk. But that is really not a bad thing. People seek information here, and Collarme is loaded with good things as well as bad. You might have to turn on your BS sensors though.

I know several of the people here well. They are all real people. Some others, well to be frank, are problems. And still yet, there are those that are seeking their way through what is to some,a relatively new side of their lives.

So, please post everyone, we want to talk to you, heck you might even know something we don't.

i'm not sure why not here on CM -- there seem to be fewer personal attacks here than on other sites i've been on (although that does still happen).

One of the things i do like is that every so often, even on an often discussed subject (i.e. submission is a gift, slave vs. sub, et al) new people do occasionally post or among all the "regulars" a new thought will immerge. Other times, maybe, it's a standard thought just worded in a way i understand in a new way. For example, in another thread someone mentioned making up a D/s resume, or kink resume, and i thought it was a great idea. Perhaps it was the word "resume" that was different..not sure, but i do love it when new people post, or even the regulars post. i'm much more likely to read a current thread than one i'd find in the archives --

I enjoy reading, but usually don't have anything to contribute, or by the time I get around to wanting to respond, it's already been said by then. I generally also look at the forums in the morning when I don't have time to post. Of course, today would be the exception to that.

Im in Australia, I work, and I dont have time to read every post.

Usually anything I might add to a discussion has been added by someone else. I dont see the need to post useless comments.

I read a lot in the forums here, but rarely post. I'm a shy person and it's hard to overcome that. Add to that some of the threads that turn nasty for whatever reason, and a lot of the "read older threads about it" replies (although the ones with links to such are more helpful and appreciated), and that just makes it more difficult for me to work up the courage to post. A lot of times it's difficult for me to find the words to express what I want to know or learn more about, or to respond to a thread. I've learned quite a bit from all the reading I've done here so far and very much enjoy spending time here reading and will continue to do so, but, I'll probably never get past the vanilla under my name...lol

Mostly if i'm not posting, it's because someone has already expressed my views and if it's someone like Lucky Albatross she's normally said them MUCH better then i would have... i also have a huge shy streak that sometimes stops me too...i am still learning a lot also and dont have a whole lot of knowledge, i'd hate for my un-educated advise to mess someone up!

It is the same way no matter where you go. A wise woman once told me out of every 1000 people you have one that speak's out. The other 999 lurk. I'm finding that analogy to be right on.
Many do not post for various reasons. They cannot word their posts just right and are afraid they may embarrass themselves. Perhap's they may feel they have outed themselves if they post. Even though we are all using fake names.
The reasons can go on and on. No matter what you nor I say these people still will not post. Such is life.

Even when i'm around a lot of my friends chatting, i tend to just sit back and listen intently. It's the same for forums most of the time.

Recently, i have just not felt compelled to post as often.

i read them daily, though. i am a firm believer in being straightforward and honest, but i also believe that if you don't have anything nice or positive to say, don't say anything at all. i would rather post infrequently, sometimes, and feel constructive, than prolifically, with a dampening spirit.

Of course, there are times i have been posting like a... like a... like a crazed poster whut posts at midnight. i sure hope i was amusing, if not constructive. *grin*

These boards go through cycles, as do many of us.

It is pretty neat to see the thoughts expressed in this thread by others. i agree with sub4hire about the ratio thing, i have heard that.

It's simply a part of the human condition and online phenomena. Go read essays about cyber culture back in the 90s- they asked the same question. Most people lurk.

i usually post when i'm in town and have something to say, and don't feel dissed by other parties on other boards. and when i'm something to contribute. as to others, who can say. guess it's not their thing to join in the education and edification of issues. go figure.

I recently began posting on the board after reading posts for quite awhile. I wanted to feel like I was more of the CM community since it is a grouping of people whose thoughts I respect. It is another way to receive my own particular warm and fuzzies. I had an idea that I saw things clearly and could express myself. Once I began posting, I did notice that I occasionally get mail with a private comment on something I've said that leads to more involved discussion.

As to why others don't post more, it is a reflection of society in the fact that few are able to express themselves well. Plus, there are some with abilities who don't post for other reasons of lack of time, shyness or because they don't want to have their thoughts thrown out for public examination.

Alot of people would be afraid of personal attacks or 'flames' as its more commenly known to the people that frequent online communites. Having snide remarks thrown at them and just not being bothered to post again.

It all happens here.

like someone else said alot of people do just like to read and not comment.
