has anyone mentioned Star Wars? the Return of the Jedi? the scene where princess leia is chained and has her little slave outfit on? i know a few of my Dom friends would love to get me into it...lol

Btw, since we've branched into tv shows ... last week's episode of Arrested Development had a scene where the main character was confronted with his fiancee's wanting to have a sexual encounter involving a paddle. He said something like, "Cool, we'll come up with a fun safeword."

My wife cracked up. "He said 'safeword'!"

Another one of those crime shows, "Bones", had a so called lifestyle couple on it. As usual it was a FemDomme and a Msub. Heaven forbid a woman wanting to submit to a man!
AND, as usual, it turned out the couple did the murder using their perverted fetish ways to commit the crime, by binding and drugging a young woman in their basement, who eventually died from a bone infection cause by her never changing position for a few weeks.
Gee...its not like they even tried to present the lifestyle in any positive manor at all. They even made the couple extremely stupid in what they DID do, which probably means the writers know little to nothing about the subject.
Heck, a couple as involved as those two supposedly were would have known what would happen to a woman kept bound in one position for weeks. I know that if I ever had to do such a thing I would at least chain the woman TO something yet let her have all the movement she wanted.

Oh well...still hoping for a loving display of the lifestyle on TV...especially one not shown on a crime show.

Has anyone mentioned the TV series "Witchblade"?

It only ran for two summer seasons but it was full of Ds and some SM.

First the relationship between Mr. Irons and his "boy" Ian -- so Ds heavy.

Second the relatinship between Ian and Sara -- potentially Ds, it is clear he would be her slave if she let him.

I loved that series!

Ok, so this is off the wall, but hey, so are some of the others. There is an old horror movie - I think it's called "The People Under the Stairs" ... something like that. The couple who own the house are related to each other, but definitely have some BDSM going on - at one point, when they are searching the house for the kid who broke in, the guy is in full leather gear - chains, hood, the works - and the woman is totally in charge.

My wife and I just received 'Design for Living' from Netflix. It's a pre-Hayes code film about a three-way relationship.

It's not exactly perfectly consensual polyamory, but it's as close as I've seen in many films and the acting and dialog are all wonderful.

My fantasy is, after the last scene, they decide to re-negotiate their 'gentlemen's agreement' about what is and isn't allowed ...

Hurrah!

Bubble baths are great.

I've all ready made two reservations this year for a B&B and hotel suite with huge baths so I can do it again. My bath at home is too small... especially for someone to join me.

Hmm good idea. The local partner and I are taking a trip to Las Vegas this spring and that would be a great addition.

In "Dead Poets Society" there's a scene with the headmaster paddling a schoolboy. I like the part where the boy is telling his friends about it later.

And don't forget Wesley being tortured in "Princess Bride". Nobody can withstand the machine!

dixiestar69 -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (1/26/2006 11:53:53 AM)

but what about "THE SECERTARY" Its a spanking and bondage scenes in a nilla movie...

acadia -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (1/30/2006 8:31:08 AM)

I wouldn't call "Secretary" a vanilla movie. The BDSM is the central story, not a minor element.

Some other vanilla movies with SM scenes:

"Oh Brother Where Art Thou" has a m/m bullwhipping scene, I don't remember the actors.

"Lady Jane" has Helena Bonham Carter being birched by a woman.

"Moll Flanders" has Robin Wright being birched, by a man if I remember correctly.

SweetEscravo -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (2/6/2006 6:48:10 PM)

oh. my. god. I was watching that movie with a VERY vanilla friend and when that scene came on I could not stop laughing. I think I ended up on the floor and he was very confused as to why I found it so funny. I also love later in the movie when they are switching costumes back and the main guy is talking to an eldery man, giving him back a collar "you must be daddy" I would buy that movie just for those parts. Cracks me up just thinking about it!

devotedsub4one -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (2/20/2006 5:21:52 PM)

I didn't see anyone mention The Last Tango in Paris, a Marlon Brando movie. I havne't seen it for years but i remember it really striking a cord with me. It definitely has a strong D/s feel and some of the sex scenes are really hot.

SirNico -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (2/20/2006 7:24:47 PM)

anyone remember seeing the horror movie 'Waxworks'? Some beautiful scenes with the gal being whipped by the Marquis De Sade and not wanting it to stop. Interesting stuff for a camp mainstream flick. Also good is the old website www.wsimd.com (for whippings scenes in movies). may be defunct now though, as the site got sold.

'Waxworks' is one of my favorite cinematic depictions of kink. I'm quite familiar with the wsimd site, a shame to see it's no longer around.

Two movies I heard about on NPR might be of interest to some folks.

One is CSA http://www.csathemovie.com/home.html OR http://www.movieweb.com/movies/film/27/2627/summary.php

It is a alternative history/now story about what things might be like had the confederacy won the American Civil War -- slavery still exists.

The other is "Manderlay" another alternative historical slavery setting where slavery existed for 70 years beyond the Civil War. http://imdb.com/title/tt0342735/trailers-screenplay-E26116-10-2 for trailer or http://movies.about.com/od/manderlay/ for more information.

I haven't seen them but I plan to if they go to Indy or here to Bloomington.

lostlass -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (2/25/2006 1:37:31 PM)

may i please add phantom of the opera??

has D/s throughout the entire movie.....and is a great movie at that to my way of thinking

Manderlay (actually the sequel to "Dogville") is a great movie if you like artistic, almost "play" like movies with hardly any stage props. There's some harsh and probably non-PC lessons about (real) slavery in it, but it isn't exactly a kinky movie.

Oh, no not kinky by our standards but several of the movies and tv shows mentioned here really have torture, kidnapping and rape so I figured some of us might get turned on by movies about slavery too.

And "CSA" looks amazing, what amazing "commericals" in it. Has anyone seen it? Is it as good as the trailer makes it seem?
