I honestly think...really...
That it all depends on what happens as a part of a scene, at least for me...
For example, I detest whips (single-tail, bull, whatever you choose to call them) if they're used too soon. But...after the happy glow that comes over my skin after some fun with more thuddy toys...? Love the sharp little stings.
Although, I am not a fan of paddles. But then, those, and a belt, have always been methods of punishment for me.
