MY experience with the butterfly rope is that is is MUCH grippier than hemp. The biggest concern you need to have with it is it is spun looser, so knots can get VERY tight. It also has a lot of stretch to it, so it "bounces". You can do suspension with any type of rope. Different materials require different knots and different ties, but there's nothing magical about using hemp (or jute or whatever) for suspension. All that being said, Butterfly herself typically uses silk body ties with hemp support lines. (I would guess because of the tightness of the resulting knots, even a slippery taut line can be rough in that silk)
