In school tonight a girl took me aside and asked me this.
I looked at her kind of funny, and she said "oh, I guess not..."
I told her that I *think* she knows what she's talking about, and if it is, then yes.
I asked her if she figured it out by my jewelry, and she said it was because of my personality.
Can anyone tell me (for sure) what that means?

*lol*

Thanks!

Could be a number of things. Witchcraft, using a non-motorized lawn mower, cooking with lard, or maybe she has a speech impediment, and was trying to find out if you liked the O'Jays.

Unless she was coming to class in a horse and black buggy, I'm going to guess that her 'old ways' are something to do with paganism of some stripe.

Hi blushes,

The phrase you heard is one used by Pagans to identify each other.

Ok, then, how can a personality be pagan-like? (sorry for all the questions, just don't know anything about it. )

That's a very good question, given the multitude of things which that term can cover...   Wotanism to 'fluffy bunnies' to Gardner's customers, etc....

Do you wear black clothing and silver jewelry with curious symbols?  What are your postions on the issues during classroom discussions?  And what type of class is this anyways?

Well ya know, slaveboy, you will find every type from the super-vegan-no-leather-no-deodorant people to the rough-and-tumble-kill-a-deer-in-the-woods-and-eat-its-liver raw....while running around naked and howling at the moon.

I have a big slider necklace that I wear large semi-precious stone sliders with. (but I asked her if it was my jewelry and she said no.) I generally wear long flowy skirts and low-cut blouses-hippy like.

I'm outspoken in the classroom and generally right. (more often than anyone else in this particular class.

Legal ethics.

Well given the way you dress and you being outspoken in an ethics class, I might ask first if you are a feminist and second what spiritual path if any appeals to you.  You kind of have the Earth-Mother vibe going on there from what you describe.

For what it is worth, I get asked similar things by complete strangers for the same types of reasons.
And that is even with my silver jewelry under clothing and not in plain sight.

Go figure!

I never though it would happen but I actually agree that it is all fluffy.
Anyone who says, the”Old Ways” is a flake sign. Huge. I got into Wicca many years ago. Wicca started in the US as a predominantly Goddess orientated thang. At the greatest time, women were questioning the religious leash that held them back and it was a phenomenal experience. Immediately, there came about the Dianic Trad. It was phenomenal. Prior to that there was Gardner. Gardner was not as respected as people like to think because he stole everything that he ever had from Crowley. He watered down Crowley and made a buck. It wasn’t till about 10-15 years ago that they even accepted that there was this yin-yang thing. All of a sudden there was a male aspect. Then it became a recognized religion-which really screwed it up. Not to mention some inane thing called the witch wars. I don’t think you have seen petty until that. I’m talking about chics in cloaks running down the streets with wands and threatening to hex. Oh yeah. It was all of that and more.
What they did was water down Crowley some more and then deny him that right based on fear. Crowley wasn’t a nice guy but it was his work. We are talking about the time of the Golden Dawn. There are three prolific writers in this time era: Crowley, Fortune, and Israel Regardie. Regardie came into his own much later and has proven to have the stamina. I got tired of reading watered down shit and began to search out those guys. Fortune was great, she said if your going to study astrology you had better study astronomy, and if your going to work with a pantheon (and in theory you choose your path about a year after you get involved) you better study the era, wars, economics and foreign policies AND topography. See, Hera is cool and all, Pre-Hellenic, otherwise…..your calling on a bitter bitch whose husband cheats on her and you deal with it. Sweet. Harnessing energy that is a couple thousand years old is not the same as having your mind so open your brain falls out. I have never read anything that you have posted that indicated your brains fell out.

Actually, Crowley cribbed the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn from some Masons. Since it was started in 1886 or earlier, and he was born in 1875, highly unlikelythat  it was 'his work'.

I walked into a group of pagans last Sunday. One spokeswoman had no spiritual awareness at all. Everybody could do his own thing, she said. Then one man accused another of having a grandfather that stole a goat from his grandfather - and I walked out, being disgusted with the lot.
