Mercnbeth -> Bra Shopping (8/5/2008 10:53:52 AM)

A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy 's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, 'I'd like to buy a bra for my wife.'
'What type of bra?' asked the clerk.
'Type?' inquires the man, 'There's more than one type?'
'Look around,' said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, color and material imaginable.
'Actually, even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from.'
Relieved, the man asked about the types. The saleslady replied:
'There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types.
Which one would you prefer?' Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them. The Saleslady responded, 'It is all really quite simple....
The Catholic type supports the masses;
The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen;
The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright; and
The Baptist type makes mountains out of mole hills.'

Have you ever wondered why A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, G, and H are the letters used to define bra sizes?  If you have wondered why, but couldn't figure out what the letters stood for, it is about time you became informed!
{A} Almost Boobs
{B} Barely there
{C} Can't Complain
{D} Dang
{DD} Double dang
{E} Enormous
{F} Fake
{G} Get a Reduction
{H} Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up

They forgot to mention the German bra: Holtzemfromfloppen

lol i wear a 36 DDD/F  a boyfriend took me out shopping trying to find both a nice  bra, and  some cloths... he didn't understand my frustration with shopping (5'3 so things that fit the top were to big  or long)  until 5 hrs later and we were unable to find a bra in my size nor even a jacket that fit right ... he finaly said  that we will just detatch (lol mine are real he was joking) he would buy adress for my body and a a bag for the boobs

BlackPhx -> RE: Bra Shopping (8/6/2008 7:40:30 AM)

LOL I know the feeling. If it fits the top, it doesn't the bottom, and if it fits everywhere else it won't close over the bewbs. Mine are 44DD and I get tired of carrying the little money hogs around in a desperate never ending search for bras that don't look like they required an architech and steel workers and might look nice. Sigh. Gravity was NOT my friend. A to DD in 6 months at age 9.  And who the HECK invented Underwires!! Had to be a sadist..try getting a man to wear one in his Jock..and see what he says!!

DDD= Double Dipped Dayum!!!

Poenkitten [:D]

Have you tried Fredrich's of hollyweird?  A bit pricey but, they sometimes have the harder to find sizes.[try the on-line store]

camille65 -> RE: Bra Shopping (8/6/2008 8:52:30 AM)

I found a FANTASTIC site for bras, you can even see how they would look with different styles of shirts so you don't end up with the exposed bra strap look.

MistressHolly71 -> RE: Bra Shopping (8/6/2008 1:37:01 PM)

I use http://www.barenecessities.com/Bras_catalog_nxs,31.htm They have a good selection in lots of sizes.

Naira -> RE: Bra Shopping (8/6/2008 9:47:17 PM)

Actually, German for "bra" is "Bustenhalter"..."bust holder"

camille,
The measurement section of this link was an accurate reflection of what beth's been dealing with all her life. It worked out that she was a 40B; nearly impossible to find. But it works out - I don't let her wear one anyway.

BlackPhx -> RE: Bra Shopping (8/8/2008 9:16:34 AM)

Some very nice bras..most still of the architech and construction format...found a couple that didn't rely on the steel industry for support. They are on my list for next bra shopping haul.. I buy 3-4 at a time. Anyone else out there have permanent grooves in their collar bones from bra straps and the weight?

Poenkitten wishing the Fashionistas would bring back tight pants and cod pieces for men...they were sooo decorative.

Saratov -> RE: Bra Shopping (8/8/2008 11:42:25 AM)

Go to renaissance faires and look at the guys in tights.
