Alright so I'm taking the advice from many helpful people from another post of mine and deciding to get out and meet people in the local bdsm community. So whats the best way to find them? Is it common to meet young people close to my age? (19)

I did it by Googling my state and the term "bdsm". It didn't take long at all to find my local group's homepage.

I can only speak from my experiences with one group. I was often the youngest person to attend the munches at 30+ years old. Very few younger people would attend continuously. I think that was mainly because there just was not enough young folks already there.

On the positive side, I found the regulars to be great, welcoming, and fun to talk to.

Many munches have a special group for the younger crowd...sometimes called TNG.
Caryl's page has some of the best listings for groups, events, and munches. It's located at www.drkdesyre.com/

but don't dismiss the people you meet there because they are not

young

engaging in white hot jungle sex during the munch

Enjoy the people you meet for who and what they are ... think about getting a partner out of it eventually, not immediately

Just to add to what the others have said, but more specifically to what the soft one pointed out.

Those same folks attending the munches or gatherings, may have somebody they know that is in the same position as you, and if they think you would be a good match, might introduce the 2 of you.

IF nothing else, think of the possibilities to learn more about yourself and the lifestyle by being able to talk with folks that have been involved for years.

Another great thing is get involved , help , ask is there anything they need .See if there is a event near you or one you can travel to Most all event "not fetish balls" have classes and meet n greets and more , and if the event is close , the ties to the local community are there too .Do not ever dismiss an age group you can learn something from everyone .

I had friends who were into BDSM but who weren't connected with the local community. They did, however, know some great places to play! So, another way to find info (symbolic of the back-assward way I do things sometimes) is to contact your local dungeon(s), if you have one. Their online list of affiliated groups who use their facilities gave me a great list to start my networking.
