Why is it that every forum room has a Post Button, but if you put a post anywhere but here you get an admonishing note from the moderator?

Because each forum room is geared towards a separate category. hence this room is designated for Polls and random Stupidity! The Mods prefer that posts be relatively pertinent to the appropriate category. If not, they warn you and then move posts to where they should be.

Because the software that is used on the site comes with certain features you cannot remove. There's worse out there, trust me.
