ZenrageTheKeeper -> RE: Real/True Statements (1/5/2006 5:55:28 AM)

In my experience, any sub profile that is looking for a "Real" or a "True" is just some little twit who's got some bizarre ideal in her head of what a Dom should be. For any Dom that comes along that isn't an exact fit at all times, she's already got a reason to disobey at any time: because he's not a "Real" or a "True". Its a psychological method of topping from the bottom and it isn't worth the grief.

Upon reading a profile like this, I just roll my eyes, move on and feel sorry for whomever tries to collar her.

Rolls eyes and wonders what the big damn deal is.

Seriously... has it gotten to the point that when ones believes they themselves are real or true.... they're not? Bullshit! Are we to change the way we feel about ourselves because it's not what you want us to say or think about ourselves? Either it be Dominant or submissive, we express ourselves in the way we see ourselves. Just as you do. You may not use the words "Real" or True" but when you roll your eyes at us that do. Are we suppose to believe you are anymore "real" or "truer" than us?

Word are used to decribe what we feel, think, and see about ourselves. But that's what they are... WORDS. No matter if one uses the "real" or "true... until you take a min, hour, day, week or month... to actually talk, get to know someone. That's all they are ever going to be.. and that's WORDS!

KnightofMist and i quote this.... asked... How do you progress to present yourself as "Real" or "True" and how do you progress to assess if those you talk/chat to are "Real" or "True" in this online environment.

All i've seen is people saying that is they see this in a profile, you walks away... keep going. You don't know who is real or true. Because you won't take the time. That is of course like everthing else in your life... your choice. But don't judge someone just because you don't like seeing 1 or 2 little words in their profile.

But then again I ask... are we suppose to believe you are any more "real" or "true" because you didn't use such words? Hell you could be bigger players than the rest that do use such words.

edited to add......... passing one up that things of themself as being true or real... well hell.. you might miss out on a possible new on line or off line friend, that just likes you for being you too.... oh well.. life goes on for us all.

HoosierScorpio -> RE: Real/True Statements (1/5/2006 9:21:14 AM)

I am not sure the best way but when you do not get response back because they are burn out because of players it is hard to do something to get them to take a chance to talk with you. I do not like to say any thing more about myself until we can start a conversation or start making first contact. I will use a small paragraph to let them know I an interest. I am not able to access the chat function of collar me because how I get on line and the OS I am using. I have still tried to down load java but still does not work. I read one sub profile who will get her attend if you say you have a degree from MIT and that could be false if the guy claim to and not. I have had a situation were people think I was a player because I was talking with some in private because I rather focus my attention on the person than to be over whelm by every one else is talking in public. When you think you see red flag may not be a red flag but because of being burned you are already on guard. The rule should be take the chance and talk with some one until the can show you something different.

Blah, blah, blah.

Please. Tell me more of how your disgusted with me for my using my own personal experiences to decide which profiles are worth sending mail to. I really care. I just can't sleep at night without tossing and turning until everyone thinks I'm a real Dom. *gasp*

[/sarcasm]

"looking for a true/real..." is a big red flag for me. The way you have gone on and on about me passing someone like you - or anyone for that matter - by because of it has done nothing to change my mind on the matter.

Petruchio -> RE: Real/True Statements (1/5/2006 7:05:03 PM)

Hey, hey, guys. Cool your jets. You don't want to wake the sleeping moderators with this noise.

And no one says either of you are wrong.

(Of course, I'm always right, but I set a high standard.)

Ah, the voice of reason speaks again. I also concur with you Petruchio. No one is wrong in this argument; just each of us are individuals and have our own way of expressing ourselves.[:D]

PS....Petruchio, you are always right, that is, in your world![;)]

LMAO......... ok, guess responding off yours and not someone elses wasn't my smartest move.... oh well... life is still going on for us all.... no matter what we think.

truesub4u -> RE: Real/True Statements (1/5/2006 9:03:13 PM)

ZenrageTheKeeper,

I was just reading back through both our post... I can see where I pist you off. I made it seem that It was personally against you.... It was not. For that I am sorry. It was not ment to. My wording was off on that. I kept refering to YOU and not SOME. This was most definately not reflected towards you and you alone. .

So for this I am sorry.... not sorry about the post itself. Only the way it came across to you. I don't expect you to accept this appoligy. But it's there anyways.

truesub4u -> RE: Real/True Statements (1/6/2006 9:50:57 PM)

Oh yes, I have not been able to let this rest. Something has been bugging me for the past 3 days on this. So I went on a little journey....

So for the past couple of days, I went profile jumping again. And out of over 200 profiles, I counted off less than 20 that did not state that they were "real" or "true." Even less had actually stated they were looking for someone "real" and or "true." Out of over 200 profiles.

If looking for "real" or "true", would you not want someone to state that they at least thought they were "true" or "real" in their own minds? In order to have someone be true or real to you, should they not be true or real to themselves?

Forget the words all together. Let's think of the general directions we all want to take here. We take a real path in our lives. We always expect to be true to others and have them be true to us in return. The words are there, will always be there. But what you do with them, think of them, doesn't matter. They are simply there in everything we choose in the lifestyle of BDSM. Everything you do, everything you want is real. Everything you accept, believe in... you want to be true. So before dismissing these two little humble words.... think about them again.

And how many did you see say "I'm not real and looking for someone not real also"?

No one is going to say that. Saying you are "true" and looking for someone else who is "true" is just perpetuating a meaningless cliche. I said in another thread that profiles that use cliches like that are ones I skip over immediately.

Actually, if I was single and actively searching for a dominant, I would not want to read that they thought they were real or true. I would much prefer them to tell me their character strengths, their values and morals, what type of relationship they are looking for, their view on the lifestyle, etc. Telling me that they think they are real or true doesn't really give me any information about them at all.

So often, I have watched the behaviors of people who state they are real or true and what they really meant to say was that their way was the "one true way". It is not the case with everyone, but my perceptions have just made me a little cynical of the words real and true.
