Never be afraid to speak your mind and stand up for what you believe in, but always be open minded enough to see that your way may not be the best way. It's ok to be human in front of your sub/slave, in fact, it's a good idea. Asking their advice isn't a sign of weakness and listening to it won't make you less "dominant" but it does make you a better partner. And that's a big deal, your relationship is, after all, a partnership.

If at first you don't succeed, breathplay may not be for you.

Any time you want to try something new to you and/or your partner, talk with them about it and above all... do your research.

It's not undommely to ask for help.

If you're drained and at your wits end, you won't lose your MasterCard (said with a nod to MasterFireMaam, as i agree with her use of the term... and it makes a good joke *winks*) by letting your submissive cater to you and pamper you... It may seem to go without saying, but i've known many a dominant woman who take the term "independent woman" all too seriously in my opinion.

If your submissive is particularly drained or just plain deserves a treat, you won't lose your MasterCard for catering to and pampering them.

There really is nothing that is undommely, so long as a dominant chooses to do it.

Your relationship does not have to look like anyone elses to be working exactly how you want it to.
Most people will tell you you are doing it wrong, becasue you are not doing it their way. Remind them that the reverse is true, you could say they were doing it wrong becasue they werent doing it yours.
And a gem of wisdom I got from a fortune cookie once:

1) Don't take yourself too seriously.

2) If you are not having the time of your life, don't do it

3) Listen politely to advice but make up your own mind about people

4) Don't compromise your own values. The pain of regret far outweighs the thrill of the moment

5) Don't hesitate to stop if you are just not into it. You don't have to like everything and everyone.

6) Respect and affection really cannot be demanded not matter how dominant you think you are. They have to be earned.

7) Learn from everyone you can, but find your own style

8) Don't try to dominate anyone other than your own subs. It just annoys others.

When things go wrong (and inevitably there will be something sometime that doesn't work), be the first to own up to your part in the failure and be willing to apologise. Far from being unDommly ... it builds trust and respect.

Wow! There are some real pearls of wisdom on this thread. It confirms my belife that Mistress are the smartest people on earth.

There are two points that I'd like to amend:
    1) 97% of what you see on line is not true;
    2) Absolutely avoid absolutes.

There are two points that I'd like to second:
    1) I spent so much time looking for "the one" that I missed out on
       some really great women;
    2) Ms. Akasha is so right! I love to hear how much the woman
       topping me enjoys my plight.

I like what you said about respect. I don't see how anyone can take pride or pleasure in dominating someone they do not respect. That would have been the pearl I would have passed on; but, you don't need it.

A bit of Wisdom is to know your self before you can sever a Mistress. Know thy self and understand what you need from being with a Mistress and why.... Make sure you know how to commuicate on many levels as this is the best tool that you have...

I forgot one earlier.

Every now and then, take a minimal risk. Take a shot at an opportunity that otherwise pass you by.
