Question for all switch/Dom/Dommes etc? I know that I feel both ways. It is only a matter of time. What did you do, if feeling the same way? Did you practice flogging and other skills? I know that I have already learned the most important part of topping. That being the caring, safety, attention to details, and respecting the bottoms limits.

I just see a huge gap of that knowledge and the actual practice.

I'm not sure i really understand what you are asking here.

Are you saying that there is a huge gap of knowledge about being a Dominant switch that you are asking about?

What do you mean when you say it's only a matter of time?

Are you asking people who aren't switches how they practice flogging and other skills without being on either end?

I so do understand it takes time that's all I can really say

You do whatever feels natural to you.  If you have a desire to learn topping skills (flogging or whatever) then do so.  If you prefer to focus on the bottom/submissive aspects then do that.  Really, you should do whatever floats your boat.

I think what the OP is saying is theoretically she knowns how to top, b/c she's been topped. She needs to acquire practical skills.

My advice is to start with something simple like a suede flogger...and work up from there. Don't use any implement on an actual person until you are accurate with it on a pillow (or whatever). Find a mentor for things like serious cbt, ball stretching, etc. It would also help to have a mentor if you want to do "real" rope work.

I agree with MizSexyVixen,

Practice makes perfect. Even the most experienced Dom/mes had to start somewhere. Granted, some people may be born with some innate ability to land a flogger or a whip to the exact same spot on a pillow or the wall, but that number is so small, it has no real bearing on contemporary life.

So, get something cheap and move up to more expensive "tools" as time and finances allow. You don't want to break a $100 flogger because you don't know how to handle it. So, start off small and start off cheap. Who knows, you may stumble upon another aspect of "play" while trying out new things and experiencing new things. =)

Daddy is the one who is teaching me the art of all these wonderful playthings.  I agree that finding someone you respect and knows how to use the implements well in order to teach you is the best way to learn the technical side of things.

Having a switch as a submissive and teaching her by co-topping is so much fun.  Playing off of each other its possible to create a really great dynamic.  Its also awsome for objectification and being clinical!

What are your interests? Do you like flogging, whipping, canes, candles, electricity, etc... from a Dom's point of veiw? You say it's only a matter of time. Matter of time till you start to feel Dominant? If thats the case wait till your interest begins.
Or is it a matter of time till you find some one who will sub to you? If thats the case, your behind the crub. You need to start learning that which interests you. Best way is with a Top and bottom couple. One insturcting, one "assisting". I think I can speak for the form when I say... only a fool sub will allow some one unskilled to play with them. So don't have the skills you need, you need to find a mentor. Maybe several mentors.

Thats all I can guess from you first post. Some details would help us all I think.

Domnslv4Pleasure -> RE: switch training as dom (8/27/2008 8:30:22 PM)

I had the Dominant fantasies, but didn't talk about them. It was a male slave who approached me and asked me to Dominate him. I did. And I liked it a whole lot. And I still play with him. *smiles wickedly*
