I've been asked to put a work into rich text format, but I don't know what it is, or how to do it.

Does anyone know?  Thank you.

When you save the document, you'll get the box that you can write the title in (as long as you're "save as" ing and not just saving, I think)  underneath that box is one which will have a scroll down option box, included will be options like .doc and .xml etc  This allows you to choose the format of your document.  Scroll down til you find .rtf and then click "save" as normal.  Voila.

It's just a sort of document format, like a word doc, or something.

ps not a techie at all

If you're working on a windows machine you have a word processor that produces rtf as its default program. It's called Wordpad. It should be at start->all programs->accessories.
