Hi folks--

The NYTimes has an interesting article showing McCain's campaign organization and his style.

Thank you for posting this, thornhappy.

I think he could use more stability and focus in leading his staff. Schmidt and Davis seem key to making that happen.

Interesting read.  Thanks for the link.

McCain is not even the real candidate.

what I suspect-- is he is there to pardon bush.   he steps down and his VP is the "one"

bush will pardon himself of course- but it sticks better if the next prez does.

why would mccain want the job?  this is the golden years for him. he diesnt want into the snake pit- he wants to be on a beack with white sand.

TY for the link, thornhappy.  I've worked for a government official with a very similar style, and while it may have its advantages, in my opinion, they do not outweigh the disadvantages.  In an effort to curry favor and shore up their position, top aides would do anything to undercut the other guy's -- even if it had merit.  In fact the merit of any decision seemed to get lost most of the time as decisions were basically popularity contests among staffers and their underlings, all fearful of losing power or, even worse, their positions.

I wondered a lot about the personality of the government official who had arranged this chaos...what need all this drama and conflict was filing....whether he was more anxious to feel he was being catered to than that he was being well-advised.

Most government agencies -- and certainly the white house -- can find all the drama and crisis they would ever need if they focus outward on the country and not inward on staff wars.

All in all, it is a reason to vote for Obama.
