One thing that strikes me is the number of definitions (about half) that mention something imaginary, fanciful, or overtly idealized...

Just sayin...

It's what the dictionary suggested......

*nodding* I understood that -- I think that what I was trying to get across is that so many people go hunting for this "romantic" relationship... but if you look at the dictionary definition, in a lot of cases, the whole 'romance' thing is a red herring -- it is a fantasy or false idealism of what the perceiver -wants- the relationship and person to be, rather than a real reflection of what he or she is. I guess I'm just not a "romantically oriented" person... I believe that everyone has a 'skewed' perception -- that, to me, is the whole point of being an individual human -- so that each person can perceive and explore living from his or her very own perception... but I guess, for me, I don't feel compelled to "dress up" a person or thing to make them more like what I fantasize about, instead of just accepting, for good or ill, who they -are-. That's kinda what I was trying to imply without spelling it all out. *shrugs*

The whole collar thing has always rather escaped me.

I've just tallied it up to the fact that I've never been one to put any real importance in symbols. Wedding rings are just jewelry. The cross, nothing there for me either. A collar, a round thing to put around a neck to snap a lead to.

I'm also one of the least romantic women you will ever meet.

For me it's all about deeds. Words, symbols, they mean shit. I need to see the proof before I see any value at all. Even then, the symbols can be destroyed yet the intent and value of the person/intent/deed will remain.

I get the whole, sign of ownership thing and that it is important to some people. Who knows, maybe someday there will be a girl that places great value in it with me and I consider going down that path. Still, our agreement, the intent, deeds will be what I value, not the physical symbol.

As for romantic mushy stuff. I don't need that to have a slave. It doesn't make her unimportant to me, just means I am not mindlessly head over heels in love. That stuff is overrated.
