 Is there a way to change my screen name without losing my whole profile?

Also, how do I upload a pic to use as an avatar here?

I haven't been able to find a way to do either. I'm assuming neither option is available which is unfortunate.

The only way to change your screen name is to create a new profile.  To save time, and to avoid retyping everything, copy your text into a Word Document or someother wordprocessing software, then paste it into your new profile.  You will need to check all the boxes again, if you have any checked now.

To use a picture as an avatar, upload the picture on the personals side, and choose it as your primary picture.  Then, over here, on the forum side, edit this profile to use your primary picture as your avatar.

Ahh, I think what I should have said really is that I haven't been able to find a way to upload an avatar pic that is one other than my profile main pic. It seems that is indeed disabled here. Sorry 'bout that.

Yes, once my main profile pic was approved, it was automatically set to be my avatar. I did nothing to make that function work when joining the site.

In the forum settings here I see an option to "Use your avatar as Profile Photo" but none to use a profile photo as your avatar.

They removed the option of using your own avatar a long while ago - but those who had 'different' avatars and haven't changed them since that time have them still remaining - which is why there are a couple of long term established posters with personal avatars.  On the Admin announcements, there is a post by Mod One about it.
