personally, i don't see untrainable as unwillingness to learn.

it's a trait used in which Daddy didn't need to undo my character or teach me tricks to become a better submissive. it's His way of saying I accept you as you are - no training required.

Then you need to think about how you are using English. "untrainable" and "no training required" have totally different meanings, which is why the English language has provided those different meanings with different words.

trainable = (adjective)  one having the ability to be trained
untrainable = (adjective) one not having the ability to be trained
un = prefix meaning "not" or "the opposite of"

It is interesting as ever however that you view training as the undoing of character or the mastering of "tricks" ... must be so wonderful to be born perfect in every way.

If you can learn how to answer the phone, change channels on the TV with the remote, and make a frozen entree you are trainable.

Oh crap I am soooo screwed. I can do the phone thing and I suppose I could do a frozen entree (although I don't understand why anyone would ever want one)....but that damn remote....forget it!!!

{whispers} All I can really do with the danged thing is turn it on, plug in the number of the channels, and change the volume. Any more than that and I need Santa to figure it out.

Yep, I have to agree with some of the others here.  Un-trainable usually means someone doesn't care enough about you to get to know you.  Therefore the time spent would not be worth it and you are un-trainable.

Also usually means they will be jealous when you find your match and they see what a wonderful couple you have become.

My biggest job requirement was the phone never ring.  I can't even turn our TV on.  I burned carrots on Sunday.

I am officially untrainable.

Glad to know I'm not in the remote boat alone. I hear practice makes perfect. I'd try that out if I could ever get my hands on the thing. Sir says remotes are dominant territory...lol. He might be right....he's pretty good with the one that came with that egg. Now the one with the tv I think he needs to work on that some more because I don't think he knows how to get to all of the channels....most of what he seems to be able find on the tv with it are sports.

edited to ask.....How exactly do you burn carrots???

Michael is exactly correct.  The more positive interpretation would read something like, "Looking at you as best I'm able, I don't think that submission (or dominance, whatever he was referring to) is for you." would've been said something like how I wrote it along with some rationale for that statement.  You're untrainable is such a blanket slam that either the guy has the social skills of a slug or else it was a deliberate insult probably meant to defend his ego and having little to do with you.

You shread them into tagliatelle, and then pan fry them with some dark soy sauce so as to be able to create a little bed of them for your slow roasted duck breast *nods*.  Then you baste the duck breast and forget about the carrots for a momnet, and they go black in places, but still, thankfully, taste pretty darned good.

That's how to burn carrots, with style!

Greetings,

As lifestyle Master that owns property and has trained property for others, I need to tell you that there is no such thing as untrainable if there is a deep desire to learn. If a Master cannot get the desired affect, then he is using the wrong approach to the problem. If someone has a desire to commit to something, she or he can be trained. It is how you get there becomes the issue and that is where many Masters fail.

Sincerely,

Aramis Duval

If you're going to do something, do a *good* job of it!! Or just say that you meant for them to be "deeply carmelized". That's what all the great chefs do!

SisteMargaret..you've gotten some great answers..but what the heck I can toss in mine as well. Since you are presumabley NOT still in diapers (save maybe by choice as a fetish), you are trainable. What you are not I suspect is a doormat willing to submit to any Tom whose Dick is Harry who demands you bow before his Domliness. Frankly, the majority of people who meet me would NEVER take me for a slave or a submissive ( a good thing cause there ain't a submissive bone in my body) but I am most definately my Masters slave...all others may request things with his permission or risk drawing back a stump for taking liberties.

Rejoice in who and what you are and know that when the right person  enters your life, training will neither be onerous or tedious. You are not a dog, you will want to please him, and training will most likely consist of "I like this" "I will try" or "I will succeed no matter how long it takes"

It means "I don't feel capable of training you." There is no such thing (IMO) as a submissive individual who cannot be trained, with the right trainer, the right lessons, and the right expectations in place for that particular dynamic.

Thanks E/everyone for such kind words and liberal wisdom. i got a good laugh out of quite a few responses as well. i feel much better now. i realize now that i've been trying way too hard to be 'trainable' and it just wasn't necessary. Master likes me and i can just relax. It will be what it will be, right? The fact that W/we are both reasonable, decent, honest and kinky as hell will carry U/us through.

It simply means he doesn't have the smarts to train you.

untrainable - either you are perfect ... or he needed to stop by the Dom shop, and buy a clue.

The only way you could be untrainable is if you had no desire to learn, but even then there are cattle prods ... so even the most stubborn person can be trained ... even if all they learn is to fear the opening of the cage door.

and wow ... am even starting to sound like DV
Buwahahahahahah..... my master plan unfolds.  Behold my works, ye mighty and despair.

Disclaimer - your mileage may vary widely on this response.

To me it means some dickhead Dom decided you weren't pliable enough for him and he didn't want to put the time into helping you get to that pliable place, to help you to grow and understand yourself and the world you are entering. Instead, he put a vile lable on you and made you feel like shit instead of being a decent human being. Beware of Dickhead "Masters"

~Or~

You were just there to test the waters and decided that you wanted to be a 'bratty' sub, the kind that always puts up a fight, is always sulky and plays games to manipulate the Tops to get what you wanted. In that respect, I agree that I've met lots of girls playin the game who were totally untrainable at that time.

Or maybe it was a little of both. But that was then and apparently this is now. Rather than worry on what happened before, what are you going to do today to make sure that your foray into your local scene is not one filled with regret and remorse?

Well, i do admit that i'm a handfull. Even at my advanced age i've met none that can match me in stamina and kink ....except Master.  Brat? No, just Switch :)  Gentle, loving, sensitive, intellectual and truely sadomassochisitic. On the whole of it, maybe i intimidate the guy?
