So I was talking with a friend about BDSM clubs last night. I commented that reputedly the best clubs in my area is pretty much a no-go for me because you're not allowed to wear 'casual streetwear'. For women this probably isn't too much of a problem, a black dress, heels and stockings will get you in the door without the need for rubber, leather, latex etc.

For men though, it seems the only real option is leather or fetishwear of some description. I find this quite frustrating as I have no desire to wear leather, rubber, or anything like that. In fact, I would hate it. I like my clothes loose and light, and smart. The dresscode does say "whatever turns you and your partner on" (before excluding streetwear) but what I am most comfortable in and what makes me feel and be my most dom-ly is either my normal streetwear (smart combats and a shirt, or a nice t-shirt in private) or a something smarter (slacks, shoes, white shirt and tie). Sadly, I don't think this will meet the club's standards.

So what can a guy do, who doesn't like leather etc, to kink his appearance up a bit?

Most clubs will gladly accept the slacks, white dress shirt and tie. Call and confirm.

I don't know the English scene all that well, but in America, a pair of black slacks and a black t-shirt (maybe with something kinky on it; they are cheap enough on the internet)  No need to wear a cow

What about some black denim jeans and a black belt with silver studs.  Maybe some combat boots with a dog chain wrapped around one, and a wife-beater t-shirt?  If you can handle a little bit of leather you might get a studded leather band to go around one or both wrists.  If you like hats at all you might get a motorcycle cap to top everything off.

Never had a problem with nice black slacks, crisp white shirt, blood red tie, black suit jacket, and a leash attached to a slave.

By "casual streetwear" they probably meant denim jeans and t-shirts, or something truly casual like that, and they probably want to keep the club more fetish-oriented.

I whole-heartedly agree that black slacks, shirt and tie....especially a black shirt and tie....or even a turtleneck when the whether gets colder....would be totally acceptable.  Just think black and sexy.

You could always accessorize by carrying a paddle or crop and dangling a set of handcuffs out of your back pocket.

Dark suit, sharp dress shirt, cufflinks, smart tie should get you in the door. Men's formalwear is a fetish for some, both wearers and watchers alike.

Good luck,
PL

It does depend on the club in the UK, I would call and confirm and check how strict their code is.  Some clubs are even going so far as to turn away men dressed only in a pair of leather pants these days, or warn you might be refused entry because it's too easy to just pick them up.
I would suggest that you choose something that makes it show you made an effort - what they are trying to weed out is the casual stop-and-stares who are attending just because they were told they might see nudity etc and pervy stuff.  I have seen males attend in tuxedos or kilts or full evening dress, even a 1920's suit outfit.

And yes, if you attend with a partner, particularly if they are leashed, you are more likely to be admitted.

Then there are some absolutely fabulous campy unisex-outfits, like "ninja" - outfit. :) Although ninja-outfit might better suit a submissive type personality if i think about the history of ninja-profession.

And as someone said, uniforms are just hot. Last time Wwe were partying there was one person in a pope-outfit attending at the party. Can it get any more kinkier than that?

Leather doesn't have to be tight.  You could wear loose leather pants, boots, a black wifebeater and a collar.

You're the dominant. You can wear whatever you want. I usually wear black slacks, a black pirate shirt and a black leather vest. I know someone who wears white tie and tails, another who has an authentic World War II uniform, complete with appopriate divisional and regimental markings, another who has a T-shirt that says "I'm one of the people your mother warned you about," and another who wears blue jeans and a plaid shirt.

We went through this the first time C and I went to the fetish club around here... turns out I have shit tons of silly fetish stuff, but we usually play with him in his street clothes... (which he looks sexy in... don't fix something thats not broke, damnit!) Eventually I think he ended up wearing black pants and a black wifebeater, and said he felt like a tool the whole time- haha. I'll go with everyone else, and say you should be safe wearing black, or maybe dress clothes.

One of the local places here that throws parties states on the invite that formal wear is ok. No jeans, (Including black) and no all black street clothes. I know a few female subs who love the look of a man in a suit, and see it as fetish, so that could be an option.
As was already stated, places probably do that to keep it more fetish oriented, and to keep those not invloved from going in and just watching.
  I personally, love My leather.
It couldn't hurt to call and get an answer right from the source.

Generally a guy can get into a 'no casual streetwear club', simply by removing their shirt.

I'd be astonished if the last outfit you described were deemed inappropriate.

I've only seen one person turned away from the club in Boston and his streetwear wasn't just casual it was kind of grungy. The bouncers were telling him that if he had worn say black boots instead of his ratty sneakers they would have let him in. I usually wear a black dress shirt and slacks. As has been suggested it's most likely worth it to call and see if dressing up will get you in instead of just crossing off that club.
