I'm on a roll with the threads this week lol. [:D]
 
You have the choice of watching one of two scenes. The first is Dom and sub, he's obviously not all that good at what he does. There is no flair in his flogging, no real connection between the two people. Any blows inflicted are just warming the skin, you know when you go slightly red but no real marking. The sub is all giggly and behaving pretty bratty and you can see it's all about just getting off for her.
 
The second is a top and bottom with an obvious connection. The flogging is impressive, the single tailing beautiful to see. The two players are obviously completely in sync with each other, the play flows. The blows in this scene though are building up to be very heavy play, almost brutal.

Which scene would you watch and why?

I ask this because i watched two scenes as i have described on saturday night and most people in the club chose to watch the first. They seemed very dissaproving of the second scene. I don't understand it, the second scene was beautiful, the first nothing in comparison.

Publicly, I think I'd rather watch the first.  Then I could feel superior (Hey, I got an ego too, after all.  The second one sounds like it might make me feel like a pussy for not having learned to use a single tail yet.).  I would watch the second in private and keep the remote nearby so I could back it up and look at things in slow motion.

As a note... the scenes I enjoy watching are ones where I precieve they are having alot of fun... the skill level is irrelevant to me... the fun factor is what matters most!!!

The second may have been too intense to comfortably watch, even though that intensity attracted you.  Have you ever seen a couple in a restaurant really into one another, gazes locked, hanging on every word ... you feel like you're intruding by noticing them?  It could be the same thing.

People just looked appalled at the second scene. It was like omg she has welts, bruises and even broken skin *shock horror*. Couldnt see past that to the beauty of what was playing out, such a shame.

I tend to be drawn to the energy in a scene. I've watched scenes that bothered me due to the activities involved but the energy was very much there. I know a couple who does an intense scene together that most people might over look but the energy is very strong from their scenes.

It could be that the first scene would have a fun energy but the intensity of the 2nd would probably draw me more.

A couple we're friends with in Chicago does heavy, heavy humiliation scenes, mixed with intense edge play.  She screams. She crys. She threatens to divorce him.  He keeps right on jabbing her with hypodermic needles.  We know them intimately, and how much they each enjoy it, but it's tough to watch.  So beautiful, yet so intense.  Sometimes people just can't do it. 

However, I would rather watch the two of them play any day, over some fluffy giggly crap.

Definitely the second scene... it's all about the connection!  I don't see any problem at all as long as everyone involved was a consenting adult, but that's just me. :-)

I'm with KoM....I'd be playing....or socializing...or helping out. When I do get time to watch scenes...if I had a choice I'd watch the second because by your description it sounds like that would be the one with all of the connection and energy.

We frequently get comments that our play is a beautiful thing to watch...but we also play very intensely. One thing that I have noticed is that there are always a lot less people at the end then at the beginning. It surprises me when I come back to the here and now...I always wonder if we played so long that maybe everyone went home...lol. Sir usually tells me that he thinks that when we start getting down to things like the steel meat mallet or some other evil thing that some people drift away. I think that some people are only really comfortable watching play that stays at about the level they are personally comfortable with or a little above...but when it starts to go too far past that maybe it gets a little uncomfortable. I know that I've had several people express concern for me after the fact...but I don't think that I've ever had anyone convey that they were disgusted by it. When it happens it's always more like a "hey, are you ok?" and it generally comes from people who are newer or who don't know us well. The public play venues that we frequent most often though tend to have a good amount of pretty intense players so we blend in pretty well usually.  I also think that sometimes a scene can emit an energy that is so intensely intimate that watching it can feel like you are intruding in a place you should excuse yourself from for fear of interrupting the energy flow.

I'd watch the second scene.  I've seen both and the first just seems like an irritant to the senses.  I have done public scenes with Daddy that have been quite intense, and people have watched us and enjoyed them.  I think those who have watched us were aware of the connection and were able to "share" that with us.  I like the same thing when I watch others.

While I would much rather participate, If I had to choose Id watch the second.

Not only would the bottom's reaction to the rough and brutal play turn me on (and make me jealous) but the intrusion of watching their private intense moment would only make me feel dirty, adding to my viewing pleasure :)

I have never been able to enjoy porns in which the actors sound as though they are scripted.... If the participants aren't getting something out of it, be it pain or pleasure what's the point? How is it enjoyable for anyone?

As has already been stated, the second scene, because of the connection.  Seeing the trust between them would be inspiring.

I'd watch the second.  I love intensity.  I cant imagine making an evaluation based on role or the kind of relationship the people I am watching might have.  I look at how they relate, not what they are.

Both. I'd watch both because if you look for it, you can find something worth seeing in almost anything.
