Aloha.  I'm going to be headed for the Houston area soon.  Gonna be driving in Houston for the first time in years.  I'll be going From George II to over by Beaumont.  I have Google Maps, that's no problem. (I hope).  There used to be a small municipality within Houston where the speed limit dropped dramatically.  What I'm asking, what should I expect in the way of traffic mid morning on a Sat.  I think I'll be on 10? most of the way?

Expect cars, trucks, SUVs and motorcycles.  I think that about covers it.

*Wink*

Have a great time.

It's been a few years since I moved out of Houston, but back then, it would be smooth sailing at that time of day on I-10, on a Saturday morning.  What has changed to make it a nightmare?

Thanks Cali.  Am I going to go through that town where they rely on speeders to fund the city council?  BTW, gonna spend a couple weeks with my lady.  Wish me luck!!  Still think you should have gotten 100.

Well there is Katy for one it has gotten awful big, but Sat morning you should be clear around 10 am most of the cops will be off duty since they double the officers to catch Drunk Drivers from 6pm to 6 am Friday and Saturdays. Though not sure what construction they are doing on I 10. I know I 45 south of 610 is a nightmare with all the construction and exit ramp closings. I would just try to stay within 5-10 mph of the speed limit

Hmmm, you lived in the Bayou City too, huh? I lived just south of Braes Bayou off S. Post Oak. Worked at Shell Bellaire right in West U Place. Played drums for a kick-ass Psychobilly band (if I do say so myself). Buddy of mine used to run Rockefeller's. Saw some killer bands there. Had some great food there, too. Cafe Annie w/ Robert Del Grande, one of the pioneers of Southwestern Cuisine. We should compare notes.

Well Katy is on the west side of town, and I thought he was going from the airport to Beaumont to the east, which wouldn't even put him close to Katy.

Hippie, I used to live off of 59 south and Beltway 8 south, on the southwest side of town.  Worked for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo in marketing, among other things.  I had a roommate for a while that was a club manager, but dang if I can remember the name of the place! LOL!
