CMastersen -> Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 4:21:01 PM)

yes, an akward title.
What is the most bogus STD testing statements you have gotten/heard from someone who just want to have sex?
As an example of what I mean:
In more than one case when I asked someone about their STD status I have been told: "I have just been to the Doctors and they found nothing." Whereupon I ask if the Doctor checked for any STDs. To which a few of those admited - no.
Also, many will say that they always use condoms and thus they are STD free. (yeah - Right!)
The best one I have heard I got just this week: " ive been tested for military reasons".
As I asked him to explain how that worked, come to find out, he is Not in the military, but he does live with his parents who are in the military. Once I got that out of him he was no longer speaking to Me. (well, maybe it was after I said that was all bull shit ;) )
Tell Me: Does the USA Army test the children of Soldiers for STDs for Military Reasons? I think not!

Well - that is all a lead into My Pet Pev: Wearing Condoms without testing is Very Dangerous!!

If you find this all just useless drivel - Eh, what do I care? (c:

Wearing  condoms without testing is dangerous?  Seems to me it is a heck of a lot safer than NOT wearing condoms.

CMastersen -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 4:35:46 PM)

yup - butt...
It is not enough!
Not even counting condom failures, how many of the STDs are transfered from the areas the condom doesn't cover? specificaaly the scrotum. Too many. Maybe not the fatal ones, but still ones that are not nice.
Yes with condom is better than without out. Butt not enough.
I do appreaciate you point. I was just going the next step or two with your thought being assumed.

darchChylde -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 4:56:01 PM)

I'm going to try to not imagine what "nice" std's there are.  But believe it or not, sex with condoms and regular testing can still be dangerous.  Did you know that some std's don't show up in tests for several months after introduction to the system?  Any time you have sex with someone who you haven't had chained to you (or at least never out of your sight) 24 hours a day for 6 months or more, so you can know with absolute certainty that they've had no other partners since; you are accepting a risk.  Period.

Really, there is know 100 percent risk free way to have sex; unless you want to count phone sex or cybering.

CMastersen -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 5:26:09 PM)

Yup - Sad but True!
So - guess it is another night with the fleshlight! (Is Carpal sp? Tunnel and STD?)

sophia37 -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 5:37:36 PM)

Ive never asked anyone Ive ever slept with for results from a std test. True I havent slept with a zillion guys. On the other hand, I havent had anyone ask me for the results of an STD test either. I dont know why on my end or why other people havent asked either. I have herpes and zoster virus. Which I guess makes me an outcast and a shock. On the other hand. Ive had two partners in 26 years. A husband who never contracted herpes from me and now a boyfriend of 5 years who also hasnt contracted herpes frome. Both knew I had that. Neither cared or where afraid of me.

It has allways struck me just a little funny, those people that can produce a clean test result upon request....makes me wonder just a little bit how...out there they are that this information is available for the asking,am i behind the times in thinking like this..

Not bogus but a very interesting concept.

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 5:51:08 PM)

I can just see em now. Buying them on the black marketso they will really be bogus.

Thadius -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 5:52:22 PM)

From what I understand there is a number that you call to verify... not sure if there is a name comparison though..

CMastersen -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 6:14:57 PM)

I appreciate it if someone at least tries to keep clean - which for Me includes testing!!

Sure there is. A monogamous, fluid bonded and std free couple. Some people don't need to be chained together 24 seven to act in an ethical fashion.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 8:02:19 PM)

My partner doesn't need to be chained to me 24/7 or never out of my site to know that I am faithful. Sure, there's somethings that take a while to show up or may never show up, But Maybe you're choosing the wrong partners if you need them never out of yoursite or chained to you 24/7 to know they're not off fucking around somewhere, when you're not looking.

For me , when entering a new relationship I will go and get tested, exactly so I have that information on hand for them to see. And I'd expect the same of them. It doesn't make any one "out there" or odd to have their own health information readily availible to a potential partner.

So I think yes, you're behind the times if you think it's odd and "out there" to have health info about you readily accessible to hand to a new partner.

I`ve gotten tested for HIV twice.

1st time was in '94' and got no document.A week after the test,I came back for the results.

2nd time was a few years ago. There,I got an instant(20 min) test and a computer readout, that anyone could make with a PC and printer.Nothing official or special about the readout, just a basic Word document.

I remember when sex was safe. oh hummmmmm.

Tantriqu -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/14/2008 9:07:21 PM)

Yup, I've been given the same reason 'I was in the military'; not enough!

But the worst was a would-be sub assured me he'd been tested:  arrived for his first Inspection:  he had a venereal wart:  he had indeed gone for testing:  he didn't go back for his results!  Imagine a Chuck Jones lever and trap door then dopplering whistle... SpuhLAT!!

After that I insist on hard copies.

JulieorSarah -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/15/2008 2:11:41 AM)

in vanilla days was dating a fellow, who spent a lot of time at sea ... as we both seemed interested to take that step, he asked how comfortable i was with my local GP, fine i said.  So we both went and in front of each ie, both in the room had the tests taken, and the results given later.  We used condoms for the first three months (recommended time lag then) had second tests, then stopped using condoms, and started doing all sorts of things ... All at his suggestion.  he still went to sea, and suggested should either of us have any doubt about anything to have another ... we were together for 4 years, and didn't test again ... it's 4 years since we split.  i had reason to test again recently, and thank god i'm still clear of everything they tested for.  i've not been able to convince anyone to do that again.  Close, but not that open.

Sunnyfey -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/15/2008 3:47:32 AM)

me and a group of subs go for testing every 6 months, but, i guess that leaves us in the minority. Weird....I just figured it was part of WIIWD, then again my area is knowen to be a hotspot for HSV type 2, aka genital herpes. And we're big on testing in our circles, the Leather community here and what not.

Vendaval -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/15/2008 4:55:09 AM)

The STD free card is a great concept, Thadius.
However I remain cautious for the reasons explained below.

All parties involved need to be tested for everything and for HIV that means retesting at 3 and 6 months before the latex comes off.

My two boys have been with me for 2 and 4 years respectively. And this was negotiated before hand with both of them.

Safer sex does not equal no risk!

One side effect of the popularity in shaving and waxing is that there is less public hair on many people and thus less crabs.

Dr. House has it right, people lie, all the time.  Having worked as an HIV counselor and AIDS educator and cross trained in STI screenings I know this first hand.  It was very troubling when someone came in for testing because their long term partner or spouse had been cheating on them and lying about it.  One woman came in for testing with several small children.  She was distraught  because her husband was cheating on her, forcing her to have sex and beating her.  We did the testing and I had to call around to several shelters to find space for her.  (There are some other examples but will leave them out becaue of the TOS.)

A few particular examples of foolishness come to mind.  One was a woman who knew she had HPV but had not had a pelvic exam or pap smear for several years.  Another was a young man who went to a foreign country, had unprotected sex with a prostitute that he and his friends shared and got a tattoo while on this same vacation. (I marched him over to be tested for everything including Hep A,B,C)

And last but not least the inexplicable behavior of the man who was in a answering the screening questions from me before having his blood draw for HIV and who admitted to having had unprotected sex with several partners. For reasons that remain unclear, he tried to give me his business card and arrange a date!

Oh hell no!

pahunkboy -> RE: Most Bogus STD Testing Statements (8/15/2008 5:07:28 AM)

I ask what the date of their last STD tests were.  folllowed by- what were the results?

I got quite a lecture from on old small town DR 10 yrs ago.  The 4 county area while not fraught with aids has a chemical soup of other STDs happening.  of course sex is dirty so no one talks about it.   glunk.
