There are some nutty people in this world.

A little real life story: Some years ago i had a female friend who i worked with as well. She was communicating with someone online via email etc. One day i walked in as she was writing something and she jumped. I wondered whats going on here? i sat directly next to her and as i was sitting she scrolled her screen really quickly...i made a joke saying "What are you up to?" grabbed her mouse playing and scrolled down the screen of the email....as i quickly glanced at it what i saw horrified me. She was representing herself as me, describing herself as me, she owned the same car as me, she described her living arrangements as mine, it went on..but im sure your getting the picture. i just gave her a strange look and got up and continued my day...

Its probably more of a sad thing this man is doing this to you, some people just dont have lives..hope you get it sorted out to your satisfaction.

There are laws in place that might help you.
http://gsulaw.gsu.edu/lawand/papers/fa02/medlin/#1._Federal_Law

Section 875. Interstate communications

(a) Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce adn communication containing any demand or request for a ransom or reward for the release of any kidnapped person, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
(b) Whoever, with intent to extort from any person, firm, association, or corporation, any money or other thing of value, transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
(c) Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

If he has implied a threat to a child, you have even more of a concern. And it’s much worse what can happen to him.
Check out Cybertip.ca That he made a comment about your child can mean big trouble.
Or just ignore him and he might go away.

Sounds as if Miss Whispers is in England; and so is her stalker. I doubt any federal law enforcement (US) would take an interest.

It's at the annoying stage now; most times, that's where it ends. But the advice to keep records, etc. is excellent. Also install a good firewall and virus-detecor (online) and possibly speak to your isp.

i know from experience that generally these men move on..probably to annoy someone else.

I would think the UK would have similar laws. However, if a child is involved, definitely get a hold of Cyber Tips. They DO dealt with law departments all over the world.
I have done some work related to them and have worked with them once.

Dear MissWhippers:

i always prefer to take everyone at face value. For what it is worth You have impressed me with Your composure with both Your original problem, and the criticism of some respondents. That goes a long way in my book.

Critics will always abound, they too serve a purpose as they can provide balance and an alternative view point. Certainly it is a personality fault of mine that i will Always give higher credence to a Dominant Woman, just a wiring issue that i am in no desire of fixing to be honest. Having said that, in my vanilla travels, which far out weigh my "real" travels of late, if i do not draw criticism of some sort i feel i must be doing something wrong. [;)]

On a more serious note, You have received some tremendously good advice from a number of people here. In most cases ignoring a dolt of this nature is the absolute correct course of action. However there is the rare circumstance where that serves to escalate the issue (Though i do wish to reiterate that is rare).

As Iron Bear has pointed out there are many resources at Your finger tips that would gladly aid Your cause simply because none of us can resist a Damsel in distress regardless of our extracurricular leanings. Not that i will ever admit it outside of this discussion, but You could do no better than to make acquaintance with a couple of the SAS lads. Pound for pound they are the best at their craft and tend to be less daft than the rest of us.

An ounce of prevention...

humm this one sound interesting fear is thing that can eat you up if you let it stalking is bad yes but i would say if you never spoken to him and its all on line and hes or she is anoying i was just iggy and ignore. and not let it worry you if this is someone you know and is a little ocd about you i would take it to another level. never give out your personel information to anyone unless you really know them
but then again do we really ever know anyone thats what its ment by taking it slow
