It might just be bad beer,regardless of the cherry. Not been there,but I heard Belgium has beer brewed w/ spices,every type of fruit,beachwood that`s been charred,tree bark and roots,ginger and on. I`m cool with it,if it`s good beer.

I used to drink nothing but wine. Got into it way back around 82 in Houston. We had a wine-tasting group called WagesofZin. I shlepped wine back from California, Ontario, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, and Austria. When my ex and I split, we also split around 50 cases we had laid down. I started appreciating beer when I was in Munich August 2003. Nice sipping a cold Helles (was that horrible heat wave, recall?) at the beer garden across from the train stop in Feldkirchen, and my flat was only two blocks from it. Meet people, chat, watch families getting out with their neighbors. Wish we had beer gardens in the US. Now I'm really getting into craft beers (micro-breweries). There is some amazing stuff out there, but ya gotta look for it. I've found this site helpful: http://beeradvocate.com/

perhaps the Belgians know how to do it, but this American crap makes me glad i quit drinking so as not to be subjected to it...i haul a lotta beer & the things i've seen in the warhouses just make my stomach do flip flops...but i guess i'm a purist...the flavored stuff reminds me of the wine spritzers we used to drink back in the olden days when i was a kid & hated the taste of the real stuff....i gotta agree with Jeffffffffffffffff.....
