Generally social class is less of an issue if someone has manners and some idea of what is going on around them socially. Nothing worse than someone "with money" being rude just because they feel it is their right.

Personally i have found much more issue with intellectual differences, even in friendships and with casual aquaintances. Because socially i tend to observe more than participate, and when i do talk it sounds good, i have been judged to be a "snob" by many before they got to know the real me.

Give me someone with a little intelligence, a good sense of humor, a grasp of sarcasm and manners over money and "power" anyday

There has been some really interesting and quality responses on this thread so far.  I've got something out of each and every single post.

I've really enjoyed the depth and thought put into some of the posts.  I've even enjoyed the short one liners as well.

I simply love you guys to death, thank you.

Awesome.  Just had to single this one out for a clap.    (closest thing I could find to a handclap.)

Life is strange... My family is upper class on all sides, with a few notable exceptions, and I'm one of them.  I come from money but lived very, very poorly as a child; homeless, shelters, ghettos, trailer parks, livin' la vida gypsy.

Intellectually is also potluck, to be honest.  Though I have an intense fascination with the world, some things I'm ignorant of, like the working environment of Oman.  Though I remember reading about some tidbit country or other down there being an absolute gem of capitalism, ruled by an old-school absolute monarchy; that image stuck with me.

So do relationships where I make less money prove challenging?  Sometimes.  Depends on the girl.  Honestly, it's her expectations rather than her wealth that make the difference.  So far though, I'd say that the girls that come from wealth are often better at making themselves useful in other ways; they're twice as likely to wash the dishes when you aren't dragging them out of the kitchen, because the less financially lucky girls tend to fill the gap by exaggerating those traits that emphasize equality.  The rich girls already know they're as good or better, at least in one way, so they focus more on contributing in ways that have nothing to do with wealth.  And they frequently simply have better habits.  The problem comes in during those times when they don't go the extra step, when they simply sit back and assume that you will do something, or that they have done enough; then the gulf between looms.  Re-establishing initiative at this point is tricky... but then, it would be when a poor girl is feeling her oats too.  Another angle is when the rich girl's habits are too good, when the regimented lives they lead don't allow for enough laxity to explore new things.  But, there are poor girls who are the same way, call it gutter snobbish.
